I'm going to apply early this fall to Georgetown into the college intending to major in government and economics. RIght now I have 2 good subject test scores but I dont know what to do for the 3rd.

I have the following right now:
Math 2- 780,
US History- 710 (5 on the AP test... go figure)
Chinese (born in Taiwan, I regret taking it after hearing it's pointless -__-) - 800,
World History- 680.

I realize that Georgetown wants to see all scores but I don't really want the admission committee to consider the latter two as one of my 3 scores needed. Should I take Lit in November and maybe retake US as well?

If you think you can do better on US then go for it. Anything above a 700 won’t immediately disqualify you though. I found lit to be the easiest test and got an 800 without any prep or a lit course, so if you think english and critical reading are your strong points I would recommended trying it.

Thanks so much for the reply. I did get a 780 CR and a 5 on the AP test, but I’ve seen many English oriented people at my school score below 650 on the Lit test. Also, I’ve heard about the amount of poetry and I am not very good with poetry and archaic writing style. Think I should still go for it?

The literature test is not all comprehehsnion, however it is similar to the CR section of the SAT…the poetry section on the test can be rather challenging, especially if you are not an avid robert frost reader or a reader of ancient poems from England in the 1600s. If you study for it and have a good cr score (780, pretty good) then you will do probably above 700. Go for it!

Well poetry and archaic writing were (if I remember correctly) about 1/2 the test, but the older writing is similar to the Lang test in many ways. If you feel good about the MC part of Lang then go for the SAT II Lit. I only got a 700 on CR on the SAT (I was sick, but you still beat me by 80 pts there!) (34 reading ACT) so you probably will score well.

Georgetown wants three. You have a 780, 710 and 800. You are fine! Spend your time working on your essays or ECs. Go out on a date. The Adcomm is not looking for grinds.

I realize that the scores are pretty good, but one adcomm member (the one that travels with Stanford, Penn, Duke, Harvard) commented on how if you are from the region of the language (I’m from Taiwan) and speak it at home, it is a waste of space to take the Subject test for it.
