I was warned by someone, "in UCSD, instead of 4 years, people graduate in 8 or 10 because there are so many people."

Is this true?
Do most people in UCSD usually graduate in 4 year or does it generally take longer? This may be a huge deciding factor on whether I decide to go to SD or not. Any information would be helpful.

I dont think the size of our student body is the biggest factor in graduation in more than 4 years. It also dependents on the student, whether or or he/she is able to pass the required classes without having to do them over…

Whoever said that doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

If you’re a full-time student, you should have no problem graduating in four years (maybe five years, if you cut back to three classes per quarter or something). From what I’ve heard, almost all full time students graduate in 4-5 years.

My counselor said that at UCLA it takes the avg. person 5.5-6 years to graduate because people can’t sign up for required classes since they are all full. I don’t think it would take 8-10 years to graduate at a UC.

Yeah, that’s pretty lame to stay in college just because you couldn’t get signed up for class. I want an attainable 4 year graduation. Challenging, but doable.

what is your major? for a lot of the engineering majors it takes 5 years, but it’s basically unheard of taking longer than 5. Most people graduate easily in 4.
For the record, I’ve been able to sign up for all my first choice classes this whole year, it isn’t as crowded as it seems.
