Taking a non-honors course this summer

Hi,
I am a rising high school freshman, and I am enrolled in Algebra 2 over the summer to get ahead in math, and to be able to take some of the more advanced courses further down the road. My school district’s summer program does not offer Algebra 2 Honors, which was what I originally wanted to take, so I had to settle for regular Algebra 2. I was wondering how taking a regular course would hurt my chances at college admissions to really competitive top-tier colleges, because I would not receive the 0.5 GPA bump and I would also not receive the honors designation for that course. I don’t think one course without honors out of a sea of many would be too important in a college application, but I’m thinking of centering my application around my dedication to STEM, so taking a non-honors course might really undermine that.
Please, provide me with any advice and answers that you think would be relevant. Thanks alot!

I think you are right here. This allows you to get ahead in the math area which should show well.
