Hi,

I am a student who (until recently) thought he wasn't going to be able to go abroad or take time off next semester due to some family health and finance problems. Fortunately, all of that has cleared up and I am able to travel, so I've decided to take the semester off from school and travel to Europe (England specifically) during the upcoming fall. Unfortunately, because I'm getting on the ball so late due to my earlier issues, it is far too late to apply to my schools actual abroad programs; and its also too late to apply to a lot of other, non-school affiliated fall programs. I've found a lot of ways to live cheaply in Europe during the fall semester, like hostels, and I'm very excited to travel but I'm also pretty afraid of having an experience in which I don't meet anyone my own age and don't have anything productive to do. I don't necessarily need to take classes but it'd be nice to not be bored. So, if only to stop my freaking out about it, does anyone who's gone abroad or taken a semester off have suggestions for programs I could apply to late, or things I could do in England to meet people my own age (especially British kids, not just actual travelers) and get involved in the locale. Thanks!
