I'm a freshman, living in my school's dorms on a coed floor. I seem to have a really different sleeping/showering schedule from everyone else. I always shower before bed, and like to spend some time relaxing/settling in before I sleep. Therefore I usually shower at around 10 or 11 PM. No one else on my floor seems to do this (I don't think anyone has ever been showering in an adjacent stall). Instead, there's a group of them who's always running around in the evenings. The most obnoxious thing is when about 10 of them line both sides of the hall, sitting against the walls facing each other. It's really awkward to walk through them in a tiny robe.

Should I just suck it up and walk by them anyhow? Lately I've been trying to wait until quiet hours when they (sometimes) leave, but I'm so tired by that time. They have every right to be out there now, but it's so obnoxious. Any suggestions?

I had I similar problem in 7th grade gym class. Maybe sometime you should just drop the robe in front of them and see how they like it. They should get the point after that, unless they really do like it. Then you would just have a larger problem.

You’re not living at home any more, and sometimes you have no option other than to make compromises or settle for less than ideal. Assume they’re not going to change anything and find the option that’s most acceptable to you – shower earlier, shower later, wear more clothes back to your room, or just live with it the way it is. Then maybe next year sign up for an all-women’s dorm?

I was going to say, get a bigger robe, but everyone beat me to it. They sound like a fun group. Maybe sometime you could sit with them? Or at least say hi and chat a bit as you walk by. You’ve got your routine, they have theirs. Doesn’t sound like they’re harassing anyone, so live and let live.

Just walk past them! It’s completely fine. I was like you in that I wanted to shower before bed, and then sometimes I would randomly shower before dinner, or in the afternoon instead of the morning. Honestly, I had the opposite issue most of the time either in the morning, or at night there was always someone showering. At certain times it would peak versus others which is why once and a while I showered before dinner, or afternoon. I put on sweats and walked to shower were I put them back on after. It helps that my dorm had a stall for changing connected to each individual shower stall.

You’ll be fine, and as the semester goes on you won’t care at all about it. Everyone showers when it works for them. Who knows maybe after seeing you so much they will invite you to hang out with them.

I don’t see the problem. People walk past other people in a towel in the dorms all the time. If you are uncomfortable, you can wear more clothes to the bathroom, but it’s really not a big deal.
