I got a D on my art midterm which is worth 35 percent of my grade. If I do well on the paper and the final I can still get a B-, but given how badly the midterm went, I don't know how well I'll do on those. How bad does it look to take a W (I do plan on grad school). I have a fairly good GPA, 3.7 and don't want this random art class that I thought would be fun to wreck it, but I also don't want to quit a class. What should I do?

I’m guessing that your major is not Art. W grades are potentially worrisome only if you accumulate many of them, or if you accept them for courses that are related to your major. One W in a non-major-related course is pretty much a nonissue.
