Taking all AP classes Freshman year. A good/bad idea? Probably around 4-5

So, after.......wait sorry train of thought broken.

Oh yeah, I got into a boarding school but my parents both are arguing over whether I can go :(. Sucks.

If I don't go, I'll attend my local high school, I want to take a bunch of AP classes so I don't have to take as many college courses and maybe end high school a couple months early (we can graduate in January senior year)

And, I want a challenge. A big one. School is so boring.

The Master Plan (not so ingenious, but whatevs):

I'm going to skip a gazillion courses and go straight to AP English, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP US history, and AP Music theory (I know, not for credit, but it'll be fun)

Sorry if this sounds really dumb, my counselor said I should contact the faculty to schedule test-outs in August....and that's it. And obviously I'll be studying over the summer. <sarcasm> I'm totally looking forward to my fun and relaxing summer </sarcasm>
So, guys? What do you think? Should I care even if my GPA lowers?

Horrible idea. Hold off on the AP English. It takes a while to develop 30-minute literary analysis skills, no matter how intellectually quick one is. Two years of extra prep is worth it. Do they have an honors program in English?

Otherwise, if you’re interested in the other subjects, go for it! I’m excited on your behalf. Just make sure to have time for friends and reading and relaxing. Go urban hiking every once in a while. Stuff like that. Enjoy yourself and challenge yourself. Best of both worlds.

Also, if they have AP World History, maybe take that first? I found the material in that class far more engaging, as it involved less memorization and more analysis. I don’t know if it’s the same in Euro…

OK  thanks for the help. And a big hugs for the thwack to back to reality lol. I guess I was just trying to compensate somehow, if that makes sense, for not going to said boarding school.

Don’t do AP English. You need more prep.

The other stuff should be fine. Make sure you’re adequately prepared for BC and Chem though.

Good luck with boarding school though!

Good luck with Exeter, pomelo. And wow, that is a huge course load. Are you ready to take the AP tests?

Wow…at our school we can only start taking a few AP’s in 10th. The majority of our AP course load is taken in 11th-12th.
