Hello!
I was wondering if taking AP Bio and AP Chem in the same year is doable. If I were to take these classes, my AP classes would be:
AP Calculus BC
AP Bio
AP Chem
All my other classes are easy, so I should be able to spend most of my time on these three classes. Would I be able to survive taking these two science classes along with AP Calculus BC?
Assuming you did well in the 1st year courses, you should be fine. The challenge, and this depends on the school, is many AP science classes have double period labs and the lab reports can be time-consuming, and may be due at the same time. That said, many students at my school double up on AP sciences successfully.
I’ve taken regular bio in my freshman year (honors bio was not offered) and am currently taking honors chem as a sophomore. I got an A/A- in bio and an A- in the first semester of honors chemistry. I didn’t do too well first semester of precalc and got a B, but I think that was mostly because I was not used to the rigor of sophomore year.
Just make sure you’re 100% confident with your schedule. It is definitely doable if you work hard and focus. Lab sciences tend to take more time, especially if they’re AP. That would be the only concern but it’s doable.
@BallIslife99 I’m just curious, how big a jump is Algebra 2 to Pre-Calc? You said sophomore year rigor; was this due to a class like APUSH or Pre-Calc alone? Was it honors math?
