Taking APUSH alongside HUSH course

I’ll be taking honors USH next year and I am slightly interested in taking the APUSH test. How would I approach self-studying some of USH for the APUSH test? What books would I use / when would I start? Please give me any advice or suggestions for this endeavor.

Thank you in advance!

Some people highly recommend AMSCO’s book: [United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination [Book]](http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Rf4&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=amsco+ap+us+history&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=9387829903620021503&ei=ZqNkTN6hCcT_lgfM05m-BA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDAQ8wIwAg#).

My teacher forced me to buy a copy, and for that, I am very grateful. Reading through the book and taking notes allowed me to memorize all sorts of obscure information that later came in handy. However, this book was supplementary to the textbook.

Throughout the course of the year, I would had to complete various vocabulary and short essay packets that would sometimes come out to be 50 pages long. Later on, I found out that my teacher had culled terms from this website: [US History - Notes, Outlines, Vocabulary and Quizzes | Course-Notes.Org](<a href=“AP US History Notes, Outlines, DBQs and Essays | CourseNotes | CourseNotes”>AP US History Notes, Outlines, DBQs and Essays | CourseNotes | CourseNotes). You might want to try doing something similar.

In terms of textbooks, I used this one: [Kennedy American Pageant 12e – The American Pageant: A History of the Republic 12/e](Kennedy American Pageant 12e -- The American Pageant: A History of the Republic 12/e).

It was excellent. I like pictures, bright colors, and graphics, and it satisfied my desires in that regard. :D

As for when to start studying, I recommend beginning ASAP. Do periodic reviews to refresh your knowledge. However, the breadth of material is so vast that you should commence as early as possible.

I would recommend that you learn all the additional info about each time period as you learn each time period in class. Not only would you be over-prepared for your teacher’s tests, but the topics will be fresh on your mind as you learn the extra details that AP has, making it easier to learn.
