Taking Courses Outside of Your Department

Hello. From what I've read on the McGill website, I think this is possible, but can someone please confirm...

If I major in a physical science (in the Faculty of Sciences of course), that requires about 60 credits, so I am left with about 30 credits needed to graduate. With these credits, I can take a course in any department (except for the few that are on the no-credit list for the science degree). Is this correct? Are most courses in other departments open to students who aren't in that department? Ie. Can I take a French course each semester, and a math course each semester?

Thanks!

Yes, most undergrad courses are open to students throughout the university (unless the courses specifically says otherwise or your department will not grant credit for the course–those situations are the exception).
