taking driving test thursday

I need some tips:

I'm driving down a one way road and I'm in the right lane, and all of a sudden there's a car parked to the edge but pretty much taking up most of the lane...

Example....

<a href="http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb206/hakarrr/DMV.jpg?t=1186516529%5B/url%5D">http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb206/hakarrr/DMV.jpg?t=1186516529</a></p>

Alright, the rule on a test is, "do NOT change lanes unless told by the instructor."

So what am I to do? I can't signal left, pass him, and then signal right into the original lane again. Right? So obviously if I ran into that situation on a test I wouldn't be told what to do. Have you had this happen on a test or learned from another experienced driver what to do if this happens? Thanks.

Also, can anybody give me some good tips on curb parking, because my test is coming up soon and whenever I do curb parking I'm either too far or way too close. I can't seem to get it right no matter what I do, please help. Thank you.

If I'm driving I go around the person. Not necessarily switch lanes, but just give myself enough room to go around. I just make sure theres nobody in the lane that I will go into a little bit. On your road test you should exaggerate that you checked for cars.

Not sure if its right or wrong but I've done it in front of cops and never got stopped.

Curb parking just involves practice really.

hmm, at what moment should I exaggerate that I've checked for cars? Should I stop behind the car, check all over and then merge into the left lane when it's safe or should I do that ahead of time and not stop behind the car?

Again, I know it's just a matter of experience when it comes to parking at curbs but if anyone has any open suggestions, you've got my full attention. Thanks.

When I took mine, like a week ago, I just went around the car but didn't necessarily change lanes like S0ad said. Um in that picture I'm assuming your lane goes that way and the lane next to you in oncoming cars?? Just make sure there's no cars coming I think. Then again, you can always ask...but they can be mean about that. Depends on who you have.

I failed mine the first time because I didn't stop at the yellow light which is technically "running a red light," which is BS b/c I didn't want to stop the car suddenly. I had enough points to pass but "running a red light" is an automatic fail.

Also, another thing that got me: TURN YOUR HEAD AT STOP SIGNS...as in look both ways. I always looked both ways but since I didn't exaggerate my head turns I was deducted points.

In all, just stay calm (even though that's hard) and if you know you can drive, you'll do fine.
