Taking Economics @ Berkeley

Hey,
As an incoming freshman with AP Econ credit (Macro/Micro), can I take ECONOMICS 100B?

-Thanks

if you earned a 5 on BOTH ap micro and macro, then you can skip intro to econ (econ 1, 2, or 3) and go on to microecon (econ100a or econ 101a) and macroecon (econ 100b or econ 101a)

What if I get a 5 on Macro and a 4 on Micro? Btw, I am an EECS major.

ooo, since you are not an econ major, then you can take econ 100b straight away. the prereq was for econ majors and a recommended course, but since you got a 5 and a 4, im pretty sure you can handle it and will be able to register for it as well

I took Econ 100B last semester and it was a piece of cake. I was a freshman (going to be a sophomore next year) who had skipped Econ 1 with 5's on both Micro and Macro, so you're really in a similar position to the one I was in. You can definitely skip straight into Econ 100B. It's a great class!

I don't know about before, but these classes have a requirement of Sophomore standing or higher. I am an incoming first-year with enough AP units to have Sophomore standing, but since Berkeley hasn't received my transcripts and AP scores, Tele-Bears stopped me from signing up for those classes during Phase 1. So be careful.

Econ 100B w/ professor Wood was a great experience.

There was only one other frosh in my discussion section, so he was the only guy I ever talked to. Both of us skipped out of Econ1/2 and went straight into 100b. Class seemed fine... Wood explains everything so clearly.
