Taking fourth year of English in first half or second half of senior year?

Hello,

I’m going into my senior year and planning on taking college comp 201, not sure if that’s the right name for it, for my fourth year of English because I’ve already done college comp 101 at the local community college. The problem is that my guidance counselor recommended I take it in the spring because once I finish my core classes, since this is my last one, then I might have to start paying for dual enrollment classes instead of having them be free.

My question is, does it look bad in applications if I’m doing my last unit of English in the spring and I haven’t started it yet when I’m doing my apps? Is this a question I should maybe ask some admissions counselors at schools I’m very interested in?

Thank you

No it doesn’t look bad to take a required class in your last semester. It happens all the time.

So, even if it’s one of the core classes being taken in the last semester, it’s not a big deal? I could take it this semester I’m just worried about having to pay out of pocket for dual enrollment classes. Would I say in my applicatios that I’m taking college composition 2 this year or in the next semester since they won’t see it in my transcripts?

You list classes that you will take in the spring on the app. We are on a block schedule, so pretty much everyone at D’s HS is taking something in the spring (English, Spanish, Calc, etc.) that the colleges expect to see or even require.

Admission is always contingent on continuing with the same general grades you had on your application. If you end up with a D or F your admission could be rescinded.
