The only way I'll be able to pay for college now is through loans. I am not possessed, but everywhere I go people are screaming "don't do it". For next semester I'll only need to take out about $9000, probably no even that much. I got rejected by Discover and Wells Fargo because apparently I have a terrible credit score due to medical bills and my dad taking out a credit card in my name which I JUST found out had $1000 debt on it for Amazon. If I need a loan, they will have to cosign for it. Idk if they can seeing how their credit must be pretty messed up if they can no longer open up cards in their own names. And even if they could, we're in this dispute over them trying to make me come back home (whole other story). At this point, with them ruining my credit, I think the least they can do is cosign for me to continue my education at the school I love (UNC Charlotte). Any moms or dads out there with any advise on how to approach my parents with ruining my credit AND trying to convince them to cosign a loan for school? And is a private loan a "death sentence" to my credit?

*opposed not “possessed”

Do you have any loans now?
Will this be your first year?
What part of the $9000 is private and how much is Stafford Direct loam?
How much do you have in savings and how much will you be earning while you attend school f anything?

Yes I have 1000 in Sub and 2700 in unsub given to me from the school
This will be my first year taking out a private/personal student loan
And a semester at UNCC (on campus) is close to $10000 I belive so with $3750 given to me I shouldnt need to take out THAT much in a personal loan
If I get a job part time it would all be going to school and I have nothing in savings as of now

Ok.
So to see the POV of those who are advising you against private loans, consider that you take more out for this next term, but are then unable to continue.
Your loans will then become due.
Including interest.
How will you pay them back?
