I am currently a sophomore at a highly ranked school in the NOVA area where there is a lot of competition just to get into the state university UVA. I took the most rigorous courses my school offered freshman and sophomore year; however, there is a conflict in my junior year schedule. I originally planned to take four APs junior year along with Physics Honors and Spanish 4 however I was forced to switch Physics Honors for AP Environmental Science (a class I was interested in anyways but until now had not been able to fit in my schedule) because of a scheduling conflict. That means I have to take Physics Honors senior year instead along with 4 APs, multi-var calc and geosystems honors. Do colleges care whether you take physics in junior or senior year? If it helps I’m looking to major in bio-medicine and applying to schools like UVA, UNC, and Johns Hopkins (dream school).
It would not matter. You can discuss with your guidance counselor and ask if it is something he/she feels that the junior year scheduling conflict should be mentioned in the guidance counselor recommendation. The important thing is that the guidance counselor checks the box saying that you have taken the most rigorous schedule available at your HS so you can discuss this as well with him/her.
