Taking PSAT without learning Geometry?

I have signed up for the PSAT (our Talented and Gifted teacher said we had to also) however I am only this year learning Geometry. I am aware that the PSAT does have questions on geometry.

So what do you guys suggest from now until October 13 so I am ready for the geometry part...?

What grade are you in? It seems like 10th grade. Don't worry just take the best and try to do good. There isn't too much Geometry.

If you don't have geometry...I'd assume you'd score like in the 600 range, assuming you do the rest correctly.

I am a sophomore yes. So I have not taken Geometry fully. I have however bought "Geometry Success in 20 minutes a day". It has 20 lessons so I maybe can learn all of geometry in 20 days? Who knows...

I plan to buy the SAT Geometry booklet too. So maybe if I review those fully I should do well?

Grammar is also a big issue when it comes to writing skills, so I may need to brush up on that aswell.

Other then that, I will basically take it and whatever comes it doesn't really matter, its just for practice right?

Yes, the PSAT is just for practice in the Sophomore year.

I wouldn't worry too much about cramming for Geometry...you have over a year before you take the PSAT for real. However, it would be nice to take it prepared your 10th grade year, so you can have somewhat of an idea about where your scores will be.

Keep in mind that scores usually increase drastically between 10th and 11th grades.

Your score won't mean anything this year except to tell you how well you score. Don't worry about it too much.

:)

Just FYI, I was in the same situation as you last year - I took the PSAT (sophomore year) without taking geometry yet (I was taking it that year) and I ended up scoring a 59 on the math

If this year I score a 57 CR (a bit optimistic), 70 math, 68 writing = 195

Would I be able to pull of a 217 next year?

A-San: I scored a 640 in Math without learning Geometry .. that was my freshman year though

My point exactly...think about how much higher it could've been if you had learned Geometry....

whats the highest score?

I want to also be eligible for the John Hopkins Distance Learning for Math also... so thats part of the pressure to do well.

sanguine- I went from a 185 to a 215, with only a minimal amount of studying. I think 195-217 is definetly possible.
