Taking SATs prior to transferring.

Right now I'm attending the University of Central Florida. UCF wasn't anywhere near my first choice but I decided to settle for it.

My Florida Bright Futures weighted GPA was around a 3.9 and my SAT scores were a 660M, 760R, and 740W. I was surprised when I was rejected from UF as a freshman but decided it was likely due to the fact that my class rank, which was in the top 25% of my school as a whole, was not very high when only students in my particular magnet program were included.

I'm currently in my first semester at UCF. It is quite likely that I will be getting straight As for the semester. Not only am I getting involved in several clubs, I am working with some friends to organize a Roosevelt Institution chapter on campus.

If I can keep my grades up for a few semesters, I would like to transfer out of UCF. While my current major is economics, I would ideally like to pursue a double major with mathematics, which is nearly impossible here as UCF doesn't offer a math BA.

While my SAT scores are ok, there is obviously room for improvement in math. Math is generally my best subject, my SAT Math II subject score was a 740. I have no doubt in my mind that I could bring my score from a 660 up to 100 points higher.

Would retaking the SAT improve my transfer chances or would schools look at it as desperate?

If it matters, my first choice would be Rice although I understand that would be a reach. I'm also considering BU and reapplying to UF.

BU would be a match/safety. You don't need to retake the SAT, since you'll have a record to go by when you apply to transfer.
