Taking the ACT more than 3 times

I took the ACT once at the end of my sophomore year (28), then in March of my junior year (31), my school gave another one free of charge, then I took it again at the end of junior year (28), but barely had time to study because of AP exams and finals. I have NOT taken the SAT at all. Would taking the ACT one more time in September of senior year look bad for admissions, even considering I have never taken the SAT, unlike other who take the SAT several times and the ACT several times? I'm trying to get it up to at least a 32/33 for Duke ED.

Don’t do it. Three times is plenty, and your score is unlikely to increase given your history so far. Take the SAT (once :)). You might do better.

I’d say take it again, and study frantically. Start now. Seniors’ at my school were still taking it around december. Have you been using the red book and Barrons 36 to prep so far?

I have already started; I really want to do well on this one so I can look competitive for Duke, especially in Engineering. I have Barron’s 36 and the red book (if you mean the Real ACT Red Book thing) and I am starting to reread the entire thing. I have no trouble with English and Math (usually 33s/34s), but Reading and Science is where I really need the help, so I’m going to focus on those more.

I’m not really good with the SAT sally305. My PSAT’s were meh and I think it would be easier to stick with a test I know in and out rather than adjust to a completely different test. But thanks for the input.

Some schools will not look well on taking standardized tests more than 3 times.
