Taking the SAT 3 times

Hi,

Do you guys think if I take the SAT 3 times, that would look bad for Penn?
I know I have to send all scores, but I really want to raise my score by taking it the third time.

Did anyone take the sat 3 times and got in?

I have a good SAT score with my second testing but I didn't break 2300... so I want to retake it... how does that sound?

Taking it three times is ok. I did, and it worked out. But you should really try not to take it more than three times.

You’re going to get almost exactly 0 boost to your app if you get higher than 2280 on your SAT the next time; I’m pretty sure once you break 2200 or so, all scores have the same weight, and I think taking the SAT again to get such a negligible increase would look worse if anything. I could be wrong, though, and it’s up to you! :)

It’s fine, three times is not too much. And if you do improve your score, it could help (a little)

Yes, I took the sat 3 times (march, may, and October) and still got into 2 ivies. But 3 times should be the limit.

I agree that three times is the absolute limit. In addition, I would like to stress that your composite score matters less than your subscores.

For example, a 2250:CR800/W800/M650 is very different from a 2250: CR750/W750/M750. I would advise an applicant to the extremely competitive schools to retake the first 2250, but not necessarily the second one, especially if this is try #3.

Sometimes, depending on subscores, your time can be used more effectively than prepping for and taking the test a third time.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

okay. this is good to know. Third time and last time in Oct!
