Taking the SAT after doing alright on the ACT?

I recently took the ACT in April (first time) and got a composite score of a 34.
English, Math, Science- 34; Reading- 33; Writing- 8/12
I'm registered to take the ACT once again in June. (Since I'd like to improve my Writing Score.)

I'm not sure whether or not to go and take the SAT. There are rumors that some colleges prefer SAT scores over ACT scores (but then again they ARE rumors...) Plus, it is a bit late. I got a 210 on the PSAT and I wasn't sure whether or not I should go for it. Or if there is any reason at all to do so.

Any advice?

I would skip it unless you are the type who is really curious about how you would do and would always wonder about it. Otherwise, move on to better activities :)

Not sure what state you are in, but if your 210 PSAT score puts you in the running for National Merit semifinalist, then you must take the SAT and receive a validating score in order to be considered for NMF.

@sylvan8798: Nope. Not that kind of person. Haha.

@tjd: Oh, I hadn’t thought about that. I reside in Louisiana. We don’t get the results till September though, right?

LA has needed a 210 and a 209 in the past two years for semifinalist. So you might end up having the take the SAT.
