Taking the SAT multiple times.

Do colleges care if i take the SAT more than 2 times?
Would it effect how they grade my admission?
Would it be wise if i take the SAT 3 times?

Sometimes – but rare. Sometimes – but rare. Depends if you can foresee a noticeable jump and if the colleges you’re targeting frown on it.

What types of schools are you targeting? For example, Yale has said that they view a person who achieves 2300 SAT on the 4th attempt differently than someone who achieves 2280 on a single attempt. Makes sense, no?

But for you, if you honestly think you can boost it and you’re not applying to the ultra selective schools, retaking can be worth it definitely.

Keep taking it. For schools that superscore, they will take your highest scores. I don’t think they will say, “yes, we superscore, but this guy took the exam 4 times, so we are not going to treat this student’s scores the same as a guy who only took the exam once or twice”.

You are simply following the rules that they laid out.

What are your current SAT Scores, and what do you think you can achieve?

If you already have high scores – say over 2200 superscored, it’s probably not worth your while.

If you took the test 3 times, and you consistently score in the 1800-1900, do you have a reason that you can get a higher score now. And if so, how much.

Basically, unless you think that you can improve significantly, you might find better uses for your time.

What kind of schools are you applying to. Many schools do not care how many times you take the test.

Also, WHEN did you take these tests? If you took them over a period of a year or two (rather than back to back to back), top schools understand that a person might test 3-4 times over a few years.

That said…taking 3 times should not be a concern.

As T26E4 stated:

[No choice on scores | Yale Daily News](http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2009/jan/16/no-choice-on-scores/)

While it may not matter at most schools, there are some that state that it is a factor that is considered. So as others have said, it depends on the school.

around a 1900 my first time. i’m taking it again in october reaching to a 2000. but can i take it another time in november? i’ll definite get 2100 (my goal)

Why not just nix the Oct. sitting and wait until Nov since you’re planning to take it then anyway?

You can take it 3 times if you wish. But only if you think you have room to improve.
