Taking undeserved credit...

I'm starting a club at school this year. A friend is helping me recruit members, but I'm afraid she's going totally take credit for it, especially when we go to talk to the administration about it. :/ How can I stop this from happening? Or prove that it's really my idea and she's just helping me out?

Why does it matter whose idea it was? If you’re really concerned just sit down with her and make sure she’s clear that you are going to president. Perhaps even offer her VP before any power struggle even begins.

That sounds like child’s play. If she wants it, give her the position. Honestly, it is just a title. It does not bar you from inspiring others and helping others. Neither does it stop you from carrying out your mission for what you created the club for. If you are just looking for that title and recognition, I recommend that you disband that club right away. With power comes great responsibility; if you are bickering about a title, I am afraid you are either not mature enough to run a club or doing it for the wrong intentions.

What TickGrey said, but if your main reason of doing this is for college then I’m not as impressed.

I’m sorry, I just noticed I didn’t make my meaning very clear. The thing is, I don’t care about the title. I’m just worried that if I keep sharing my ideas with her she will keep changing them and announcing that way… it would deviate from the purpose I had in mind originally. That would just wreck the club for me, and she would just be getting by easily, which doesn’t seem fair. Do I make sense?

Well, there seems to be more what YOU want, and not what is the best course of action. YOU want to be in charge and calling the shots. I’ve been there and done that. It is not “I”, but “we”; not what is good for me, but what is the best for the club. Think about that.

I totally get where you are coming from. Just make sure that she is aware that you are the founder and president for atleast 1 year. (You are the founder forever; lol) and if you would rather not just make sure you work equally or more as hard recruiting people. I can see how people’s answers may frustrate you. Hope this helps! Good luck!
