TAMU Class of 2021 - Engineering Admission Decisions

@finsup Yes, Howdy was updated before AIS. Then, later today after the review status changed, after logging out and then logging back into AIS, we saw the following on the landing page of AIS: “Congratulations Samuel! Welcome to the Aggie Family! It is our pleasure to inform you of your acceptance to the College of Engineering. To accept your offer of admission, you will need to register for and attend your mandatory New Student Conference (NSC).” Still no email yet but it is official. Good luck to your son!

@lee6666 —wow!! That just all kinds of wrong. So what will he do?

My son’s portal updated on 11/11 with his acceptance into General Engineering Biomedical, but did not have a letter on the portal until 11/14 and an email on 11/15.

@pbleigh Thank you. That is helpful to know.

@charachel2, He will attempt again at drop/add week. Sometimes there is movement then, but it can play havoc with your entire schedule. He has also gone to professors with a “force” request to get into their class. You can sometimes swing this with lectures, but not with labs as fire code allows only a certain number of students in the lab. If no luck, he takes it the next semester/year, but this is why some have trouble finishing on time. While he is ahead on the credits he needs, he must have the required courses, even if that means taking them at a community college. And it’s tricky when those needed courses are prerequisites for other courses – creating a domino effect, so to speak. Most students will experience this. His is not an isolated case by any means. A&M needs to do a better job of hiring more faculty and building capacity for the increased number of engineering students they are bringing in.

@lee6666 Oh! Thank you! That makes more sense.

Our son did get accepted! He was SO excited to see the official letter on AIS. It is his first choice so he is going to accept. Gig 'em!

Excellent! Congrats to your son, @2017seniormom and all others!

Congratulations to everyone who has heard of acceptances and good luck to those still waiting! My daughter has chosen a different school (her dream school) so I won’t be on here anymore. Wishing everyone all the best!

When are engineering honors decisions supposed to be released? I posted this in the general admissions thread but I figure that more people will see it here.

A bit late to the party because one is either a Longhorn or an Aggie at heart. D prefers UT but was persuaded to preserve the option of TAMU because it’s also a very good engineering school.

S applied to TAMU Engineering on October 14th. He likes Texas A&M a lot (attended the A&M Aerospace Engineering camp, Camp SOAR, this summer – he and his team even won a design award there). His acceptance letter to the University (not Engineering School) says that he would hear about the Engineering School decision in early December. He’s still waiting, so maybe this week. Unfortunately, the TAMU website says that decisions won’t be made until mid- to late-January 2017.

If it’s not till the end of January, it’ll be disappointing. At UCF Engineering, S already has been accepted, received a sizeable scholarship, secured housing, and been admitted into the Honors College. UCF seems to be running circles around A&M (and others) on the application/admissions process. Hopefully, TAMU will come around soon!

@VABogart if his file was complete with transcripts, test scores, etc. by the Oct 15 engineering early action deadline, he should hear by Dec 15. If not, then yes, it could be January or February before he receives a decision. Good luck!
