TAMU Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

@Rmj724 Yes, I’m pretty sure that Allied Health is under the College of Education, but I’d double check that! I wonder if the NSC dates that show up on AIS are only the ones for your major anyway? Does anyone else know??

@MCP2003, do you mind posting what your class rank was (ex: top 22%, 27%, etc.)? I am trying to find any cases of acceptance this early where the applicant was outside of the top 25% and not a unique situation like athlete, National Merit Scholar, etc.

Thanks!

@Eggscapgoats, did the September 19 scores ever show up in AIS? Mine took the ACT September 12 and reported the score to 7 schools. 6 of them are showing it, TAMU is not.

So, what is Phase III of Housing? My son finished phase II and it says Phase III opens in March. However, the videos on the website skip Phase III.

@tmclanton we got an email that indicates it is choosing a roommate.

Nope, did not show-up. Sounds like my son has a wait if yours hasn’t shown up yet. @sapphire33 on this thread mentioned that it can be awhile between the school getting the score and the score posting to a students account? My son took the SAT Aug 29, received his score a couple weeks later, and it was in AIS within a week. Thanks - hopefully tomorrow for yours!

@DTxAggie @Eggscapgoats Last year when my daughter was sending her scores to schools, they took 1-2 weeks before posting, but closer to 2 weeks. If yours took the ACT on September 12th, then scores were probably released last week? So we’re just about 2 weeks out. Hopefully they’ll post in the next day or two!

Hello everyone, would not having any recs hurt my application? I’m applying for engineering and my grades are fairly good. Thanks!

@Eggscapgoats @DTxAggie My son also took the ACT September 12 and ordered the score on 9/29. Other schools are already showing but TAMU is not.

When did you apply: August 2020
Class Rank: Top 17%
SAT (with Sub Scores) 1380 (710 reading/670 math)
ACT (with Sub Scores)
When did you receive your admission decision:
Are you an Auto-admit or Review Admit: Review
Major/College of Choice: Engineering

My son just received his SAT scores that he took two weeks ago. He applied in August so we did not have SAT scores to send in…are these scores competitive for A&M Engineering? My son does have a medical hardship which he explained in his application, which has limited his extracurriculars but he is in band. We have yet to hear on his application. Thoughts on sending in SAT scores…will they help?

From what I was told, the SAT scores will be considered in the overall addmission process if they help him. If they don’t help him, they won’t be considered.

LORs do not play a significant factor. So no, it shouldn’t hurt you.

Hello All! Checked my son’s portal last night and it showed admission to General Engineering at College Station! We are OOS (CA) due to husband’s military orders, although he (husband) is a TX resident.

When did you apply: Sept 19
Class rank: School does not rank (but definitely first quartile)
SAT: N/A
ACT: 34 composite (35 math section)
GPA: 3.9, most rigorous courses
When did you receive an admission decision: Oct 8th afternoon
Are you an Auto Admit or Review Admit: Review I guess since OOS
Major/college of choice: Engineering

I don’t think the letters of rec have showed up yet, so they weren’t a factor. Not sure if A&M considers demonstrated interest but we did visit last fall. Also, he is not NM finalist but is NHRP (National Hispanic Recognition Program)

Question for anyone who can help - TAMU is at the top of his list, but we are still waiting for one or two more decisions before he is sure where he wants to attend. In the meantime, is there anything we should be doing since there’s a good chance he’ll be attending - like putting a deposit for housing (is it competitive there)?

And I’m not sure what the phases of housing are - I’ve read about Phase I, II and III but I’m still unclear on what they mean and if there is something I need to start on now.

Thanks so much!!

Yes, if the chance of attending is good, apply for housing as soon as possible. Your son will then be earlier in line and have more openings available to choose from. Your son will get E-mails in the spring about the process.

@itsmegina Yes what @Wendellnsherri said. Phase I is now and requires a deposit. You’ll need to complete ASAP and make sure you receive an email stating when Phase 2 will be. Some don’t complete the entire Phase 1, but if you receive the email about Phase 2, then you’ll know you’re good to go!
Congrats to your family. Thank you for your husbands service and sacrifice and welcome to Aggieland.

Thanks, @Wendellnsherri and @AggieMomhelp !

Do I have to register for NSC before I can deposit for housing, because I’m looking around and I can’t find where I can access housing. In Howdy, the housing option is greyed out and I can’t click on anything.

In the past when there was the academic admit option - many of the first review admits you saw were very close to academic admit standards - including sub scores. So just out the the top 25% with rigor and excellent test scores or solidly in the Top 25% with rigor and just missing the academic admit test score numbers.

I would expect these type of “bubble” rank/score students to be in the earlier waves of review admits.

I registered for housing last week and haven’t registered for NSC yet. When I just now looked on Howdy I saw that Housing was greyed out, but it still opened when I clicked on it and I was able to access the Housing Portal

Do you think I can make it in or get into pathway?

Hi all! Registering now for NSC. Question about housing—should we stay in the dorm or apartment together or should I let her stay in the dorm solo and I get a hotel? I don’t want to cramp her style but I also don’t really want to pay for 2 nights. Thoughts?
