Tang Center

What are current students' experiences with Tang Center? Quality of care? Helpfulness of staff? Ease of access?

Any words of advice for incoming freshmen will be appreciated.

Thanks!

bump?.....

The pharmacy is like any other. Don't expect great clinical care/advice.

is it worth it for $610 a semester?

You get Tang even if you waive out of ship. BTW I just got news that the deadline to waive out has been extended to July 20th because they just sent out the waiver reminder the day AFTER you could waive out (originally the 15th). My parents have good health insurance so they had me waive out and are using the $$ to help get me a nice laptop!

Wow I haven't been on here in ages. Anyway, back on track - I'm a senior and I've worked at the Tang Center for many semesters, and I can attest that quality of care there is excellent; it is actually one of the few places affiliated with Berkeley where even the administrative staff are very patient and helpful. The clinicians themselves are very compassionate and I would say they are quite conscientious, knowing that their patients are students who are perhaps away from home and need good care without a lot of the bureaucracy that would normally ensue in regular healthcare establishments. As for their accessibility, if you call the center you can generally get an appointment scheduled that very day at a time convenient for you. Not too shabby. :]

I know people joke about Tang being the "Slaughter House", but I found it generally quite good for all my little bumps and bruises that I got through college. They're quick and efficient as Pink said.

P.S. I don't mean literal bumps and bruises. I'm talking stuff like a busted nose and sprains and stuff.
