asd: Obviously, though the posters here would love to help you we are not UCLA admission counselors and cannot possibly have the answer to every question that comes up. So instead of incessantly bumping your question up you should email UCLA or set up a meeting with your cc counselor. Good luck.

Yes, I am very aware of the fact that you guys are not admission counselors. But I am also aware that some of you guys possess psychedelic powers in hypothesizing and calculating every opportunity to get admitted to wherever. So is answering a poor fellow’s question that hard of a task?

No I think it only applies to L&S. So TAP only matters if you have L&S major as an alternate or as a main. But there are some people with engineering majors w/ TAP.

So let me clarify it. TAP, in terms of the GPA BOOST and not the alternative major, does not apply to engineer majors?

Doesn’t work for engineer majors.

^ could you indicate where it says the TAP GPA boost does not apply to engineer majors?

bolded it 10chars

Talked to a HSSEAS counselor about this on Friday. They said no, TAP has absolutely no weight for engineering majors, and that HSSEAS has their own, completely separate admissions process. OP, you could have done this yourself with a quick google search for their phone numbers. Please stop bumping this thread, you have you answer.

I also have no idea why an engineering major would even considering doing TAP. All of the honors/TAP courses I’ve ever seen are liberal arts/humanities/IGETC stuff. UCLA engineering majors are advised to NOT complete IGETC, as HSSEAS doesn’t accept IGETC. They have their own gen ed criteria that must be fulfilled. IGETC will just slow you down, considering the massive amount of pre-reqs that have to be completed for admission to HSSEAS. Not just completed, but completed with a competitive GPA (like, 3.7+) in some of the toughest lower division courses you can take a CC. I don’t understand why you’d want to get bogged down with a bunch of honors stuff when tackling Diff Eqs/Physics/Chem/Programming/etc…
