So I’m switching majors next semester, but have to take a couple of classes before I can switch. In order for me to get TAP, I need 12 credits related to my major, correct? Well, next semester, I will be taking classes for my new major as well as for my current major (in order to get TAP). However, with all these classes, my credit goes up to 19 credits, which is 2 more than the credit limit. If I sign up for 9 credits (relating to current major) and 7 credits (relating to new major), and wait unit they raise the credit limit to 19 in order to have 12 credits relating to current major, will that effect my TAP? My only concern is that SBU doesn’t raise the credit limit until a week or so before the semester begins. Thus, I have to wait a whole summer to have 12 credits relating to my current major.
Good question - you DEFINITELY want to check with Financial Aid and the Registrar on this, though, to look at the specifics in detail.
