Target Schools

hi guys! I’m going to be a senior next year and i was looking through my college list and I realized that basically all of my schools were reaches. So, based off my stats what do you think would be good target or safeties?

ACT: C32 E34 M31 R34 S30 superscore:33
UWGPA: 3.99 (one A- in AP Physics)
wGPA: 4.13
Rank: 2/350
Took 4 APs junior year and taking 5 senior year

Extracurriculars: Key club secretary, Student council secretary, math club member, nhs, varsity soccer all years, varsity cross country(joined junior year but was on varsity first year I joined), volunteer at a home for severely mentally and physically disabled people every week, looking to start volunteering at local hospital or animal shelter. Might get a job this year.

State: IL
School type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income: 200k

My current reach schools are northwestern, Cornell, tufts, washU, duke, swarthmore, and UC Berkely
I’m open to looking at any state and my family doesn’t have any financial restraints

Academic interests?

maybe psychology… I’m not entirely sure @merc81

A sampling of purely undergraduate-focused schools that might be appropriate choices for you based on your stats (ACT middle range scores shown where handy):

Kenyon
Colby (accepts a higher percentage of female applicants, could be a near safety for you)
Bates (28-32)
Colgate
Middlebury (30-33, tends to be a particularly tough admit for females)
Wesleyan
Hamilton (31-33)

(For statistical comparisons to your current choices, see “The 610 Smartest Colleges,” Business Insider.")

Since many of the schools you listed are larger than the typical LAC, and you like Tufts, have you considered Boston College?

With respect to the above, I’d also say that some of the schools on your current list (particularly WUStL) are somewhat similar to the University of Rochester, and that you might like UR for that reason.

-George Washington University
-Northeastern University
-Tulane University
-University of Miami
-University of Michigan
-University of Virginia

Quite a spread out list (geographically), but at least you’ll have options!
