Tasp 2007

Vegangirl: lol, no, I'm Joy. I don't think you've ever met me, but I've seen you on facebook. ^__^ Oh, the wonders of facebook...

Roamorse: hm...well, my interviewer did ask me what my opinions on Bush and his general direction was...and I didn't even write on politics or anything like that. So yes, I guess you should polish up a little bit before the interview.

chaotic- I don't know who you are, but you are so very wrong.
WashU '06 >>> All Other TASPs (including but not limited to TASPs who violated interstate commerce law and mailed us rotting fish)

:)

I WROTE AN INCREDIBLY LONG AND DETAILED MESSAGE AND IT DIDN'T POST!!!

spazzes out completely

I have to go, but I'll post again tomorrow. URGH.

In any case, Aida Manduley here, former Cornell TASPer from this past summer.

And P.S. - We sent you those rotting fish because we loved you so. :P SHUT UP, RYAN, you're now a housemember. grin

Whoah, who's chaotic?! Cornell II here to repreZENT! XD

Aida, I <3 you. =[

This is your short little Asian friend, who had an affair with Froffit over the summer. I also heard that the UT Taspers disliked me for some reason.. which is strange because I didn't know any of them.

Aida, it was no gesture of love. Those things REEKED!
In any event, we of WashU greatness need not spread our love via decaying seafood. We much prefer declarations of war :)

(and I think you have me confused with the lovely and talented Breanna. I didn't get into the house. The dreaded Waitlist. ALAS! I think I'll apply to Mich though.)

UGH. lmao, sorry. WHY DO I ALWAYS THINK YOU GOT IN?! Gah. In my mind, I always think "Ryan" for some reason, but whatever. Oooh, you're applying to UMich too? Me three! ^^ Sheron Mui from Cornell is also applying, as is Laura Gonzalez, if I'm not mistaken, though the latter may or may not apply in the end. PSH PSH. PUT YOUR GLOVES ON, BETCH! haha, no man, I'm totally kidding. Peace, peace, peace. I'm a firm believer that whoever needs it and will love it the most will get it (or at least SHOULD get it, anyway). ^^ So, good luck to you during that app process. :)

Yay! Joy, Mindy, and Ryan! :D

Hey, I'm sure glittering, rotting fish are a NICE gift in some... culture...somewhere.... coughcough :D

MINDYYYYYYYYYY! CLAUSTROPHOOOOOBIA I love you, Mindy!! <3 long-distance-almost-tickling-but-not-quite-ness

Uh, strange. :S I don't know why they would dislike you, Miss Zhang, because I knew ye and I thought you were awesome. At first I was a little intimidated, but then I saw you were approachable and not "Omg, I am so much better than all of you because I am smart". You were one of my first Asian friends ever! haha, I keep saying that. I'm so amused. Anyway, moving on.

I had NO idea TASP was so "prestigious" til' after I got back home and did a little research. I went into the whole thing completely blind as to what I was really applying to. (I wasn't even looking into what universities I wanted to go to! I had no idea that this site existed! I was as blind and naked as a naked mole rat! lol) I knew TASP sounded great and I thought it would be a great experience (and FREE?! heck yes!), but it far exceeded my expectations in every sense of the word. The workload wasn't harder than I expected, though, but I never thought it would become such an essential part of my life and that I would make such incredible friends.

I wholeheartedly urge all you juniors out there to apply. It could truly change your life, or at least your perspectives. I'll comment more later, because I will gush about TASP at every opportunity you throw at me, lol...

Anyway, I would LOVE to help anyone out with their essays and proofread or whatever you want. I want to be a mentor figure to some applicants out there for 3 reasons:

One of my uber-long-term goal is to be a teacher, so I like helping people with stuff like this.

I want to have contact with people in the 2007 TASPs, especially the Cornell ones, because I am very interested in the topics and I need an insider to relay information to me ;)

The most important reason of all: I WANT OTHERS TO HAVE WHAT I HAD... the best and most influential summer of my life thus far. I shiver with excitement at the knowledge that other people will have the same opportunity that I was given and I can't help but crack a smile at the thought that a year from now, a new crop of TASP-Alumni will be reminiscing about their summer even months later. <3

Aida was my TASP mother. =(

This anecdote sticks out:

One day at Cornell TASP, I had a stomach ache or headache or something, so I was stumbling around the house, whining, due to my pain. Everyone else was like, "Stop complaining!", yet Aida kindly recommended that I drink some hot water.

... bursts into tears

P.S. Don't type my name on this forum!

Aaaah! It won't let me edit my post to remove your name!! runs around, arms flailing

I told you to drink hot water? Lmao. That sounds so random!

I remember on the last day, you looked so adorable! Aaaaaah! Even though everyone was red, puffy-eyed, and crying a river, I just wanted to hug you and be like "Awwww!".

Hey Cornell kids, I'm using my dad's account to say hello (judging by the infrequency of my presence on facebook, I'm sure you can tell I'm never on the internet). I miss you guys sob and regret not partaking in the decoration of the fish. This is m&m (isn't that cool- Anthony pointed that out to me) and Gandhi will someday be reincarnated. Peace and love!!

No worries CandyGirl, I didn't decorate the fishy package either. :( Oh well.

Funny thing: I used to call myself M&M when I was in 6th grade and we used some weird walkie talkies we called "scanners". lol.

Viva Gandhi! :D

Ok. Posting our names is a no-no because we're all supposed to be anonymous or is it a personal choice? lmao, I'm confused.

I like how '06 TASPers have taken over the 2007 TASP thread :)

Teehee, flailing.

IT WAS RANDOM, BUT I REMEMBER IT SO WELLLL. I was so touched by your concern. Or maybe it was tea..

Gandhi's Cornell TASP 06 female counterpart is amazing. Sorry, I couldn't come up with a better CC code name :[

Well we're the most recent TASP-Alumni, so we can give them the 411. ^^

We're going to rule the world, I tell you!

Quoting Mister G.Z., in other words the Asian with the funny accent (XD), "WE went to TASP. The world should be our cupcake!"

grin Haha, I'll call her M&M or CandyGirl (though the latter makes me twitch).

Actually, Chaotic, I think I remember now! It sounds more like I suggested tea. :P Random hot water was TOO random, lol.

hahah. you guys are cute.

All of this reminiscence coming from '06 TASPers is making me antsy to start my TASP application. Haha. It's definitely good to know there's a lot of you out there who are willing to help us prospective '07 TASPers.

all the descriptions for 2007 are up!

=)

nice!! I like all of them now! :D

I'm rooting for International Politics on Film, though I also like the Race, Space one and the Science one too.

i'm drooling over the michigan one.

sighhhhh.

Omg. Me too....

I really, really want to go to the Michigan one!

St. Louis looks pretty amazing, I must say.
