Tasp 2007

Yeah I definitely do, Giantredlobster. Haha. Whenever people think of California, they think of Southern California in all of it's sun-bathed "perfect" weather glory. If a little polluted. At least we keep it clean here in the Bay. Kind of. Yadadamean?

NorCal is just temperate. It's been pretty damn chilly lately though. Admittedly we're not freezing like the folks on the East Coast, but we're far, far away from paradise. XD

It's ok though. NorCal is still hella cool.

giantred: lol woww. anybody else speak other languages?

"i go to some school in dublin/pleasanton, CA
im a secret spanish spy so i cant reveal my identity B-)

yet." which is relatively close to where you live :]

my friend goes to saratoga O_o

forgottenhawk: yessss norcal owns !

haha pm your friend passion

and yaddido

YEE!!!!

Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish (my foreign language in school). :)

oooh asians unite! ;D

hey guys... i have two quick questions

1) i know this is really dumb, but did you include authors names on your book lists, or just titles?

and 2) i've been playing with the idea of doing my lit crit on a periodical as a whole... by playing with i mean i've actually done more than half of it. anyway, i really love the newspaper and i think the ideas are good, but it limits me as far as rhetorical strategy, use of language, etc... thoughts/ideas? i figured TASP is looking for something original, which this would be, but is it too far off the prompt?

thanks for the help.

AAh.... im gone for a few hours and the thread has grown another 2 pages. Thats nuts, I don't even spend this much time online.

BTW... awesome, another canto here!
ku day tang em dou o day gong mat ye! haha sorry, i don't know IPA or whatever for Cantonese.

On a more serious note, are you guys having your teacher send in the recommendation or are you sending it yourselves?

youre supposed to send it yourself i believe..

the signature of confidentiality would be to prove that you didnt rip open the letter to read it once the teacher finished writing it and gave it to you

cdon: author names not necessary, would be nice i guess
and wow thats original, i think go for it as long as you express critical thinking and a keen eye

lol I'm mandarin, but I'm illiterate, and I can speak a liiiil bit, but I'm way far from being fluent. -_-;;

I'm just having my teacher give me the rec letter with his siggy over the flap, and sending it in with everything else...

My school is being difficult though, b/c apparently students "are not permitted to have a hard copy of the official transcript" yadda yadda yadda...so they're sending my transcript in separately (that is, if I give them an addressed manila envelope with affixed postage, a week for processing transcript requests, and $3 for "administrative fees").

These logistics drive me crazy. >_<

I believe the general consensus for the book list is titles only. That's what I did, anyway.

Cantonese is pretty hard to type on the internet. So I could probably understand if you don't understand what I'm going to type. The pinyin for Mandarin is easier to understand, but even that isn't very straightforward.

Hai ah! Dou so doh hai bak yun sun qing hui TASP, hahaha.

shockwaveride - if you're mailing the app, mail the rec with it. If you're doing the app online, have your teacher mail it himself.
