I'm listening to Fort Minor's "Believe Me" and it is ****ing awesome!!

Oh Jesus that's a lot of Asians. Then again, you're all from NorCal, so what else can we expect?? I've been there...y'all are everywhere!

Jaykay. I'm Asian. I'm a twinkie though...admittedly.

True or false: the reason this thread has gone so far off topic is probably because every single aspect of the application has been covered 100 times?

kath08, aida already posted a portion of her literary analysis a few pages back. look for it!

and i made a post one or two down explaining why i'm not answering any more pm's requesting to see aida's essays that i don't have. lol.

Ahhhh...true or false. I HATEHATEHATE the "true or false" thing but I can't stop!! Is that just something at my school??

p45510n - I'm definitely applying. In fact, I already have - count it!

Oh, and ranking:
1. Cornell I, by far
2. Michigan
3. UT-Austin
4. Cornell II
5. Wash U - God help me if I get this one.

yay for twinkies XD

lol crimson12!

i wrote something in my essay along the lines of "God help me if i get this one" for cornell I

or more like, "uh, i know nothing. eh. but i'll learn =)"

Hmm...I'm asian too...there seems to be several recurring patterns between posters in this thread.

oh, and passion, i meant copy and paste everyone's preferences. like...

crimson12:
1. Cornell I, by far
2. Michigan
3. UT-Austin
4. Cornell II
5. Wash U - God help me if I get this one.

and then people would copy and paste that into a new post, and add and so on.

lol sorry roamorse and all for bugging people about the essays...i actually didn't pm anyone but i'll look for it in this LOOOONG thread

and yay i'm asian toooo. not in nor cal but hey we're everywhere :P

lol, it's okay. it's on page 38 if you can't find it.

and this is what i said earlier:

"it's probably best, because even if all you do is read someone else's, you could very easily remember certain ideas or phrasing and subconsciously use them in your own essays. that's why i make sure not to keep anyone else's essays that i read, to avoid possibly plagiarizing without meaning to."

Are there any other Asians on here who feel that they're pretty fobby? LoL I know I am definitely not a real fob, but I don't believe I'm a Twinkie either.

I'm actually ironically from a predominantly (very) white part of NorCal (yes, such cities exist! :O), but um, yeah, we Asians are everywhere. Heh.

True or false: the reason this thread has gone so far off topic is probably because every single aspect of the application has been covered 100 times?

lol. I'm going with true on this one.

To recap:

YES, that poem/novel/essay/picture book/postmodernist apocalyptic love story you want to do your literary analysis on, it's fine.

YES, it's okay if your grades aren't perfect, your PSAT score isn't off the chart, and you're not president of ten clubs.

YES, your 1.5 page essay is an appropriate length. You won't be rejected because each of your essays aren't exactly two pages.

YES, the way you've listed/ranked the seminars, formatted your booklist, or written in your critical info on the app, it's OKAY. These things will not get you in or keep you out.

And finally:

YES, it's a bad idea to apply to TASP because you think it will help you get into college (and by a bad idea i just mean a waste of your time and Telluride's. you won't be accepted)

Good luck to all applying! You'll be fine, I promise. I know it's easy to freak out about this kind of stuff, but if you're the kind of person Telluride wants to accept, all of these little details aren't going to mean a thing. And if you don't end up getting in, it doesn't say anything about your character or your intelligence. Getting into TASP is somewhat arbitrary, as are all subjective admissions processes. Remember that.

Oh, and a small PSA for all who have been contacting us past TASPers, remember a couple of things: First, that we are very busy people (especially right now, as we are all applying to college on top of the normal stuff), and second, that just because we got into TASP doesn't mean we're experts on the program. I know for me personally I've only ever read my own TASP essays, and can only comment on what worked for me. Other people's apps were completely different and accepted for totally different reasons, i'm sure.

That said, I don't mind sharing my TASP essays (I hope saying that won't result in another 30 messages in my inbox- no joke, that's about how many people are currently in possession of those silly things. they're famous. lol) or answering questions- i love Telluride and talking about telluride, but I would prefer not to read and critique your applications. It's nothing personal, and I hope you all won't think I'm rude for saying it, but it's just too much involvement for an application process whose requirements I know only minimal amounts about.

Anyway, good luck everyone! I hope you're enjoying what's left of your break (if it's not already over)

That was a rather well-written, well organized, concise summary of the last 43 pages. Bravo, vegangirl, bravo.

Of course, you omitted all of our random tangents (because you KNOW it's so important, lol) but hey I think we can live with that.

lol, i was about to say the same, forgottenhawk.

thanks for that, ryan, and again, i think all of us prospective taspers should give a big thanks to everyone who has been helping us and posting on these boards.

and aida, i sincerely hope your inbox doesn't reach its maximum amount when you read this, but we all appreciate everything you've done and for helping us on top of your college apps and school work.

and finally, i hope that we'll all give you a breather and let you do your own thing without having fifty bazillion people swarming down your neck at once.

thank you to all the taspers, once again! you guys are all wonderful.

Wow people who read that and view it as a sense of closure would be foolish :-P
We have until June 24th to talk about this stuff.

I also take full responsibility of a few of the tangents. Especially anthing involving Screamo, as well as did I start the Asian/Fobby thing??? not trying to take credit but was it that whole Me writing in japanese thing because if thats what it was, LOL!!! Oh yeah im not japanese if you didnt know that allready, I just happen to be like the only black japanese speaker around. YEA!!!

Also on the whole FOB thing you dont know anything unless your "Thecomisar" (s)he goes to lynnbrook :-P

Don't you love digressions?

By the way, I'd say I am a rather fobby "fob", as fobs go. I am definitely no banana. :)

I hang around the South Bay all the time. My family also goes down to Milpitas for the 99 Ranch (Asian groceries galore!), lol. I was at a track invitational in San Jose last year. I'm aware of the incredible fobbiness. Hehehe.

Hehe it's cool about the tangents. I think you started the Asian/Fobby thing formally yes, lobster. I definitely prolonged some of the aforementioned tangents though. LoL.

And a sincere thank you to the experienced TASPers, just as roamorse said. :)

Arent bananas yellow on the inside.....

haha, I think I am an egg :D
