Finished with all but 2 of my essays. I consider this a HUGE achievement :D

Damnit, writing these essays makes me realize how much I want to go to tasp. That sounds so silly and pretentious, but it's true. And as for the whole "doing it for college" thing, I would go even if you couldn't put tasp on your application. In fact, that might make it even more appealing ;).

And finally, re the reading other people's essays thing, I admit that I asked to read one of the previous tasp-ers essays. But I had to stop half-way through the first one, because I knew that it could subconsciously influence me. So I guess while you may want to read them, it's may end up being detrimental to your application as a whole. Just a thought.

Well, good luck guys! Once all the applications are in, we can then start stressing about whether or not we get interviewed, and so forth. Should be one long haul.

Wow! I just got an application in the mail for TASP the other day and decided to pop on here to see what people were saying about it. 47 pages!!

Anyway, I'm really excited about doing this application. I feel like my writing skills are just okay at best, though. Hopefully I can make myself shine through.

I read near the beginning of the thread that we shouldn't use essays we wrote for school for the TASP essays. But I have an essay I wrote analyzing a poem (well, actually, song...but songs are poetry!) that my English teacher last year said was one of the best she ever had for that assignment. She even recommended expanding it to a paper for my English classes in college when I get there. Would it be okay if I used that? Doesn't it matter?

Everything I've read about those who previously attended say how awesome it is...really hope it works out!

how's everyone doing with their issue essay? that's going to be my hardest one by far.

hey, after we're all doing with this, and submitted all our essays (after the 26th), you guys wanna post up what you wrote your essays on? the old taspers did that last year and it was fun to read about how people interpreted the prompts differently and came up with such different essay topics.

tracy! don't you recognize me? (points to username)

polkahard--that essay would probably be a good place to start, but you might want to consider some revising or rewriting, especially if you feel your writing skills have improved since then. and in my opinion, it's best to write TASP essays fresh and then use THOSE to recycle for college essays.

Roamorse Im having a hard time too. My topic is edgy to say the least, so Im not sure how to come off without starting a whole lot of controversy, if i make it to the interview I will have alot of explaining to do. Lol.

Or do I want to start controversy..... Hmmm.

Passion don't worry. My issues essay is so out-of-the-box, I am so nervous about it. I am essentially saying everything in one sentence, the rest is analogy.

i'm just wondering, how did you guys survive when you got home from tasp? because seeing that tasp is such an intense experience, didn't you all get so mentally and emotionally attached to your fellow taspers that by the end of the sixth week, it seemed like you had known everyone forever?

cuz honestly, a summer program i went to was only three weeks long and it took me two months to get over it (cty, lol). how do you go home to all your old friends and feel substantially complete?

ahhhhhhh.

plus i'm having what it seems to be a block from all these essays. some inspiration would be nice =) like funny stories from all you taspers.

and just out of curiosity, which one of the tasps won the most relationships award? because that rule is just ... so funny. lmao.

Lol delving into the unknowns of TASP. ^^^Some great questions.

I know what you mean though, I always had summer withdrawl, I dont know if its just friendships with people from the other side of the country just work better or something. Because everyone I have met durin gthe summers are way cooler than friends from home.

Funny Stories... Hmm

Ooh. The other day I was waiting at the bus stop and about a block down the road on the otherside of the road this kid starts yelling at me. He kept screaming JAMAL JAMAL JAMAL (my names Corey btw) and I can tell he is yelling at me, because he crossed the street and ran half way to the bus stop before he realized I wasn't Jamal and then turned around and ran hella fast down the street around the corner. I laughed.

Umm... The other night I was walking to get inspiration about TASS (lol what have our lives come to) and I was wlaking down the main street in my town minding my own and these kids in an Escalade come driving past me and slow down and start yelling **** at me (**** you you ing N----- gay ass pussy muthaa come up to my *ing car and lick my ass **) That was a direct quote, I started laughing and they drove off. But because they are so cool they drove past me 5 more times each time getting even more original. Eventually they stopped but the first day back at school I confronted the one guy and was like congrats daddies plastic can buy you an escalade and a n ego. Oddly enough I didnt feel as happy with my self after saying that as I thought I would.

Last Night I was driving (ooh what a badass without a license) and we stopped because we saw this one kid, and rolled down the windows to see if he needed a lift. and he started telling us this story of how he owed this guy 300$ and then he just got robbed so he didnt have the money and then he went home and the guy who wanted the money was in his room and he ran out and got in his car and now was at the elementry school hiding, We let him use a phone and somehow in 5 minutes he secured 300$ from other people and then we left. The kid was obviously a little baked to say the least.

rankings: uh... heh. i ranked them. and made a fairly self-explanatory "OMG. IT LOOKS FUGGIN' AMAZING." to three of the seminars and a "ehhhh. i know nothing about this, but i'm willing to learn =)" for the other two.

hope you guys are all doing better than i am.
