Jason -

from what I've gleaned from this thread and the Telluride website, essays are the most important part of the application. So, I'd say go for it! It can't hurt to try.

I think roam was kidding?

I think roam was kidding?

lol, i was kidding. your gpa will not matter significantly, if at all.

ah thanks for all the positive encouragement!
Right now I am saying: (mark my words) The next post i make will be once i'm done and licked the envelope.

to those of you applying by mail, when it says to number each page of your essays, do you think they mean starting with number 1 on the first page of each new essay, or that we're supposed to put the essays in order from essay one to essay six and then number the whole bunch?

Vango, I think we number each essay individually. However, that's just my feeling. Can anyone affirm this?

number the essays individually. but also put a heading on each essay so they know what essay it is.

is anyone else planning on titling their essays? I thought I might add titles.

yeah, i was also considering titles but im not sure yet. wow, i congratulate those of you who are so far ahead in the essays!! i still have a few to plan and have not finished writing any! thats ok... i work better under pressure (at least i hope so!)

i havent even asked anybody to write my rec yet...and im applying online so i have 4 days to ask someone, have them write the entire thing, and send it in.

lol, ask someone soon. i asked my teacher two days before the deadline of this other thing, and she said she would be happy to write me a rec. i felt so horrible about it, though.

i had a little trouble getting a rec. I thought id ask my ap euro teacher last year because i did good in his class and got a 5 on the ap. But hes like old and cranky and i had to convince him to write it. lol....

Hey everyone!

I haven't posted in this thread yet, but I'm very pleased to meet all you fellow TASPers out there and TASP alums :)

I'm currently working on the "rank your preferences" essay, and have a few questions about it. Is it like a regular, 2-page essay? Or is it more simply a list of your preferences, followed by one or two sentences on why you want/don't want to go attend that particular seminar? Heh, I seriously need help on this.

And lastly, about the booklist - about how many books did you guys list? I can't seem to remember having read much at all over the past year. Sigh.

amee - i think you can do the rank essay however you want. most people, though, i think are going into detail for their first few choices (1-2 paragraphs) and then just a few sentences for the lower-ranked seminars.

as for the book list, I dont think they expect you to have read an entire library's worth. it will definately vary from person to person. if you want some reference point, I listed about 35 titles and 3 periodicals. I'm not really sure where that stands in the pool of applicants, but there ya go.

And most of all, welcome to this thread! I'm fairly new here too, but I'm sure we'll all be getting to know each other pretty well over the next few weeks. cheers!

4:20 AM....Done :-D

Now I can watch as you all agonize :-P

I definetly took pictures of me sealing the envelope, pretty EmoTASStic.

Also do you think 6 stamps is enough? Lol

How many pages did it end up being, approximately? haha I'm just wondering.

congratulations, giantredlobster! It must feel great to be done. Hopefully, I'll be able to say the same thing one week from now.

Thanks Ink!!! Yea it is the icing on the cake. Now I just got to get done with finals next week :-/

Who where you asking Comisar? If you were asking me, my entire package was 8 pages long, 11pt Verdana (???) with normal margins.

For mail in: The hardest part was assembling the package, :-P. the ordering and folding seemed very specific and Im sure I messed up but I have better things to worry about

I was asking you... I think that was PLENTY of stamps XD. I was just at the post office with my mom today, and she mailed a manila envelope with maybe 12 sheets inside, and weighed it, and it only needed $0.63.

comisar, you submitted your essays already? or were you the person who said you already finished before?

anyways, good job. i have major work to do.

oh, and amee, i don't think my booklist has all the books i read in the past year because i don't remember all of them. mine's about a page, but don't worry about it if you have a short-ish list. they just want to see what you're interested in, not to quantify your intelligence.
