Tasp 2007

roam - you're not alone. my critical analysis is in shambles.

No, I'm not done. Still need to do booklist & ranking (started both but that's it), and I need to edit my future ed objectives.

haha Lauren that book list is a doozie. I hope you caught up on your Faulkner over break.

Some officalesque (sp?) Telluridee....

Scratch that...Some guy who represented Telluride on these boards said a long long time ago, im talking like the -teen pages, that applicants are all over the place with there book lists. From 300 titles to 10 titles, its just trying to see what your into, so dont necessarily be reserved in which titles you list because you think they are 'bad.'
At the same time it is your discretion if you want to list something like:

Laguna Niguel the fake Orange County: Jake and Hillary discuss there future together while shopping on daddy's plastic drinking mamosas living the happy life, because everything is good in a pair of Sevens.
...I would lean towards, No.

Faulkner? XD, no. I didn't read much over break except my chem textbook :D

ugh, chemistry, yuck. [makes face]

my booklist is void of any classical-esque texts, so don't worry about it, lol...

hi everyone,
i too am applying to TASP. i was wondering if you guys had done the short answers, and if so how long are yours? i hear about two paragraphs for each seminar topic... but what about the future career objectives. Ahhh this is such a long application!!
Oh, and what did you guys write about for the personal conflict?

For the length of the seminar topic ranking--I'd say make it concise. You really shouldn't need more than two paragraphs for each one. My shortest one was like three sentences. And it wasn't an essay, just a list with explanations.

for the future career objectives--there's a lot of spread on this one. personally, mine was only like half a page, but some people go into depth about it and take multiple pages.

and on titling--I'm sure it's ok, but its not necessary at all. Don't waste too much of your time on it.

Should you write which essay each of them is?

Like in the headings, write "Personal Conflict Essay" or "Critical Reading Analysis"?

Just wondering.

Are you kidding roamorse??? Chemistry is the awesomest thing EVER.

Yeah - I have the same question as Tako. Maybe just putting question numbers?

MAN I can't remember the books I read last year -_-

is it okay if i mail the transcript and letter on the 16 because mail doesn't go out on the 15?

yes...it's not a problem

for the topic in a field of your choice essay (#2), is it advisable to cite (not formally) a philosopher if it's supporting a point you're making?

for instance, if the essay were to be about the war in iraq, is saying "professor x, a philosopher, devised a label specificaly for the violence endemic to iraq: sectarian violence" still considered 'my own opinion'?

[it's an example off the top of my head]

I live in California.. and I'm mailing my rec today and my transcript on Tuesday. Is that a problem? :/

i was thinking of doing that but i figured i'de just mail the two together

The way I phrased myself was misleading.. I was actually worried about not making the deadline..

don't worry about the deadline. someone emailed telluride and they said it was fine. just mail them together on tuesday.

If you are applying online, when do you need to send in the req and transcript by?
