sorry if this has been covered before - but how stringent is the TA about essay lengths? my issues essay is a tad bit more than 2.5 pages, would that kill me? i'll try to eliminate as much of the excess stuff as i can, but it's going to be difficult.

same question as sidjenks, one of my essays is exactly 2 pages on size 10 font.. (times roman)... :-/

Its chill. My issues essay is 2 1/2 pages 11.5 Verdana.

Don't worry, i would make your font bigger A-san, don't worry about the page restriction as much a legibility.

I also know some people are at 4 pages, so don't worry.

Just be clear and concise. :-)

I wouldn't be so carefree about the page limit. They have it for a reason. They want you to be concise. If there are other weak parts in your application, it may lead them to think that you can't follow directions. Sure, make your font smaller to fit it and / or change the margins (not too much!) but don't turn in a 3 page paper on a 2 page limit. The conflict one shouldn't be as much of an issue--if I remember correctly, there's no limit on that.

Hint: If you're at 4 pages on an essay with a 2 page limit, you're probably not being concise.

And please, if you've spent a lot of time on this application (duh, you all have) then make it a strong finish. Suggestion: HAVE PEOPLE EDIT YOUR ESSAYS. People as in not cc people, but teachers, parents, friends, seniors, etc. IT HELPS. If you're having trouble in a part of an essay, have someone look at just a part. Other people can really help stimulate ideas.

I haven't got a good conclusion for my educational future essay either, Billy_Liar. That's why I'm getting on CC now, actually: to clear my head/put it off.
I'm all in team mode now: Go us!!! We can make it!!! Come on!!!

I've decided that this is more important than my schoolwork. May the Gold Star God have mercy on my soul.

What piece would you be considering, OptimusPrime?

Hey guys, question about the critnal (as musechick has so lovingly termed it :D)...

I'm analyzing a poem but since it was originally written in Russian, there are a few different translations. Should I attach a copy of the poem with the translation I'm using to my application?

Thanks!

Oh, and the critical analysis tips are on page 18.

inkspill--it shouldn't really matter, unless the various translations are drastically different.

and I'll just throw this out there

TASP > sleep

if you're getting close to the deadline and need more time, I can verify that you can safely live off of 3 hours of sleep for days at a time. months at a time if you're skilled.

haha Bre.

i take it your "skilled"

ha, no I just have experience from TASP.

lol. .

I am finished!

Well, not really...I still have to edit my rankings, future, and literary analysis essays...haha. Sigh. I would so like to say I am truly, completely, utterly done.

Is anyone else remotely nervous about his/her application getting lost in the mail? How can we ensure that TASP receives them, supposing we apply on paper?

I am finally finished with the lasy essay. Now i just need to do some extensive editing and hopefully get a letter of rec from a teacher done in time.

To make sure your APP is not lost:

You can call in about when you think it would get there, give it say 5 days. If they don't receive it you can be like i will call back tomorrow. Finally if it is truly lost, they will inniate a process I'm sure in which they will allow you to re-mail it.

They are not witches or w/e. They are really kind compassionate and helpful people at the TA office. they will be accommodating in the situation you described.

^^^Giantredlobster, I'm not sure what you're talking about. These TA people are vicious, soul-eating monsters. I've met many of them. I know these things. Whoever is in the position of reading these essays has obviously demonstrated malice towards mankind in the past, and that's why they've been chosen to select the next batch of innocents to brainwash. They. Rip. Living. People. To. Unidentifiable. Bits.

Haha. I guess they don't put those people in PR. I talked to one woman and she was really helpful.

Sort of how Abercrombie would only hire the Hott white people for their store floors, and then any URM if hired would work in stocking. :-/ (bad example)

24 is in 10 MINUTES!!! Yeee.

PS that was a little bit of sarcasm.

haha I know i got that.

Great use of imagery :-P

Billy_Liar, I definitely relate. I only have one essay half-finished, and my teacher is sending in my rec late. Finals are this coming week, plus I'm testing for my license and taking an SAT II the 27th and just gaaaaah...

hehehe. so i have only tommorow to write 4 essays and the rankings....and all my school homework. and a red hot chili peppers concert. LOL
