sorry, it's just that the question has been asked for the upteenth time and my mood is slowly deteriorating due to the fact i'm writing about a very unpleasant subject for my issues essay.

The number of the prompt along with your name (on each page) should be enough--no title or explanation of number is really necessary.

ie at the top of each page of the third prompt:
3. Thisis Myname

Also, I think referencing other people's ideas is a-ok. You'll obviously just want to make it more of a reference and not your main argument, but it's fine.

im such a slacker. i was going to apply online but cant anymore because i didnt ask for a rec before the person went on vacation until tuesday.

Sorry mouse... I think that whole rule about the postmark is sort of luda', like its such fine print it wouldn't surprise me if you called in later this week once you get [rec letter] and be all like: i didn't realize this.... They would be accommodating.

But then again the 22-26th doesn't give you an extra weekend to work, so I think people lean towards the on line app. as a peace of mind not as much as a source of copious extra work time. (well at least thats my opinion considering APs and ECs and any other 2/3 letter acronyms that are of concern to all of us during the week.)

Hey, everyone. I?ve also been lurking here for weeks, and I was planning to stay that way, but I?ve reached a peak of panic. My GPA is not good?-not just in a CC-way, in an average student way, less than a 3.0. I?m not involved in any ECs at the moment. I made a complete a$$ of myself getting my eval. I requested an evaluation from my Guitar teacher, which he said he?d be pleased to write. After he saw my brochure though, he didn?t understand why I?d chosen him and not the teacher of a more ?academic? subject. I told him it was because I thought he?d give me the ?best? evaluation. By that, I meant ?most fitting?, because the class is of high interest to me and we do the most independent work in it, but I think he took it as ?most flattering?. I?m pretty sure he was insulted, and think he may have written an evaluation that reflected that. My essay status is pathetic. It looks like this:
Crit analysis: prewriting stage, Brecht?s The Good Person of Sichuan
Issue of choice: prewriting stage, the manifestation of emptiness in Taoism and Zen Buddhism
Book list: done
Rankings: done
Cornell II
St. Louis
Cornell I
UT-Austin
Educational objectives: rough draft, incomplete
Conflict essay: ?!?!?!?!!!

And my mother (arrrgGH!) is imposing an early deadline on me because of finals week. My rough drafts must be completed by 5 pm Monday, Central European time, so that we can print them at my stepfather?s work, because the BX (double arrrggghhh!) is not currently stocking ink and I want some teachers to look over my work on Tuesday.

Comfort me. Please.

ugggh. question marks.

your crit anal and your issue essays sound very interesting, so don't worry about your gpa/ec's/"not stacking up". just do the best you can. honestly, the teacher eval shouldn't carry too much weight, since the majority of your apps is your essays. if you really feel like your guitar teacher is going to write you a weak eval, just ask an academic teacher. i think that's what tasp wants, but since it doesn't really specify, it's fine either way.

btw guys, my pm box is full, so contact dandelion (sorry dandelion) if you want the essays.

aaaand my progress:

issue essay: 50% done (worked on it all last night; i started getting really depressed half way through it so i stopped); i decided to do it on a personal subject instead of a global/political one

booklist: about done

rankings: about done

lit anal: needs MASSIVE work

conflict: maybe 90% done; need revision

educational goals: maybe 50% done

ads;kf;sdfsdflsdf.

what are you guys writing your issues on?

Does anyone else feel completely overwhelmed?? I feel like I have wayyy too much going on (with school, swimming, and music) that I can't give this application all the attention it demands.

I still really want to do this, but I can't ignore everything else...so I guess I'm just going to wrap everything up and send off whatever I manage to pull together.

I'm kind of disheartened. But I don't know what else there is to do...

Anyone relate??

Lindeek dont worry.

GPA: Doesnt matter
Essay topics rather individual. Taoism...Zen <--Crazy Stuff
Most people are in your same position with essays, very few on here are finished.
ALso your from Europe??? (Im assuming based on your time zone) So thats some diversity<---TASP like that

Good Luck!!!

A-san I wrote my issue essay on "N" Word

I can relate, Billy__Liar. This past week has been really bad for me... going to bed as late as 2:45 :(. I really need to be more on top of things at school and for TASP :-/

Billy dont give up :-)

You have school off tomorrow, there is plenty of time right there. Also you have till the 26th. Thts a good 12 days away. :-)

My advice is keep at it, afterall if you throw it in the can and half-ass it the rest of the way whats the point of even sending it in....
I know you have been on here for a minute and have been really passionate about the whole thing over break and it would suck to see you just say **** it...

KEEP AT IT.... W00H!!!

Billy dont give up :-)

If you are gonna throw it in the bag and half-ass it the rest of the way whats the point of evn turning it in....

YOu have been on these forums for a minute and you were so passionate about the whole process from the start, during break... hello you were awesome. I know everyone is so bogged down and its a Bia' but think you have 2mrw, thats a great time to work. I just dont want to see anyone on here "give up" because everyone here are awesome ppl (even you lurkers :-P) and to watch all the time we have put into this is really amazing, and just keep strong... You guys got 12 days left till the 26th and well Kick some butt.

:-)

That goes to everyone here, good luck and keep strong, you guys are awesome.

YEE

so, i know that musechick posted some tips on critical analysis a while back. does anyone know where all that is? i tried looking for it but i must have skipped over it or something cuz i cant find it!

=]

It's not necessarily half-assing it. Trust me, I know what that is...coaches hate it!! See, I basically have all the essays done. I'm content with my personal issue, social issue, and my rankings. And I like the originality behind my crit analysis. I just can't pull together a good conclusion for my future plans essay.

I think I'm just frustrated now. I need to put it off for a bit. But that's dangerous...ah. Necessity though.

7 days and counting...

Hmm... Bring your future plans essay into a teacher and instead of having them proof read, have them read it and just discuss the essay with you. I did this with 2 of my essays and it helped so much. By discussing the essays a lot of good ideas come out and an English teacher has a lot of experience with working and critiquing essays. Often I found like i was going on a tangent with my essays and my teacher did a really good job keeping me on the prompt and it was great experience for the interview, hoping i make it that far :-/.

At least your in a good position, putting it off for a bit isn't a terrible idea either.

Do what you need to do.

Dandelion I'm pretty sure its in the 30s

Oh, and Lob, I did my issues essay on PC and touched on "the N word." I found that kind of ironic.

haha. one of my paragraphs was on PC nature of the word. haha.

Somone else planning on doing brecht i see. Ill probably do brecht too, but not that title, if it get around to it that is.
