Tasp 2007

Acturial:
oooh thats a tough question.

the answer is YES. Thats cool you write poetry. I tried a haiku once.... no need for explanation

Just be careful, since you know what the lines mean 100% you might just translate the piece not really interperate how it makes you feel ect..

My advice would be a PARTIAL NO. I might suggest picking an other story/book and then doing a comparison or something.

Do you guys know if we can type our essays in size 10 font (Times New Roman) as opposed to size 12 font?

I might really be one of the few here who is worried about writing too little as opposed to too much. I read so many newspaper columns and short articles that the style sticks with me!

yes

most people use the smaller font to have a shorter page number

director. This is fine it is good to be concise. Only thing is articles often only give the details and TASP wants the emotions so if you are at a point where they are way to short take a look and see if you can put more YOU in the essays

GL!!!

actuarial--I would recommend not doing your analysis on your own work. You already know what it means, and writing about it might make you seem cocky about your writing abilities.

avonlea--10 point should be fine....because they don't specify a font. just as long as its readable.

on factota: they're amazing college age-ish people (two for each location) that give guidance, help deter interpersonal conflict, get people to do the reading (not always successfully), oversee events, make important suggestions, etc. I think all factota have somehow been affiliated with Telluride before, whether from TASS, TASP, or from living in one of the branches.

I feel like when I write that it is a different part of me with the pen or keyboard in hand--sorta weird but it is true

so if I can capture what "this part of me" was trying to do and how he went about it, then it would be okay?

BTW if anyone would like to read the poem... please PM me
it might help

I still think that lacks the critical thinking part of the assignment. Like, it's a great idea to study this alternative persona that appears when you write, but I don't think this is the essay in which to do it.

Maybe you could twist it into your personal conflict one??

actuaria:

I think that'd be really risky, but could turn out great. It's out to you, ultimately, because we don't know how these TASP people think.

LOL my teacher forgot about my rec too.

Last Friday:

Me: Hey, I need my letter of rec by next friday.
Lit teacher: OH YEAH.
Me: So...yes.

Today:
Me: Hey, my rec letter's due tomorrow.
Lit teacher: OH CRAP
Me: Yeah, I figured
Lit teacher: ...

Hehe. I think that I will pretty much stay up all weekend to finish essays. For some reason my teachers have decided to be mean and assign loads of homework/tests.

lol tako, my teacher offered to write the rec (she knows about the program) and asked to see my rankings so she can base it off of my first choices. i <3 her.

looks like this weekend's gonna be entirely tasp essaying. not a bad thing, though. =)

OH my teacher has never heard of the program. Which is strange, since everybody at this school seems to be overachiever-ish.

Anyway, I emailed her. So she had better remember. OR ELSE!

And I would love for this weekend to be entirely tasp essaying, except we have a journo field trip from 8-5 on Saturday. ERGGG plus I have to study for SAT's. Plus I have an APUSH test on Monday. Whatever. Three all-nighters in a row? NO PROBLEM.

LOL I'm never even pulled a single all nighter. Sad.

me neither. the latest i stayed up was 3am, and that was for an art assignment for a teacher who wasn't even my teacher and wasn't going to be grading it.

Wait so an allnighter means u stay up ALL night? People do that?

Wow i've never been studying past 12...

thanks bre

Yeah I don't get people who don't sleep.

Like my friend basically sleeps at 2-3 every single day. And wakes up at 6. I'm like, how do you function off so little sleep? Crazyyy.

lol 3 in a row. Im close

Monday night: Studied until 5:30 then went to sleep until 7
Tues night: 3 hour nap from 6-9pm than studied through the night till 7
Last night: studied until 3:30 slept woke up at 5:30 to finish studying

Not to mention I had a true "all nighter" Last Thursday when I finished my TASS app :D and di my japanese book

Gah I have dedicated this weekend to sleep

Wow poor Corey.

I don't think very well without sleep, I'm afraid. I know this weekend is going to suck. I had better plan it out very very well. PLUS I STILL NEED TO THINK OF TOPICS GRRRRR

All-nighters are horrible. It's better to fit in a powernap. Just an hour or less. If you sleep for more than an hour, your body sinks into deep-sleep mode.

I know all about cheating your body of sleep.

Yay for an 80-line script for French!!

Hopefully my teacher will have my rec by tomorrow. When I asked her today if she'd have it by tomorrow, she said, "Maybe..." ***?! I asked her about it a week and a half ago!! Crazy lady. Her letter better be killer...

Thanks bre.

haha, I've never pulled an actual all-nighter either. I've been up until 2:45 a couple times, but I'm usually in bed by 1:30. And then up at 6:15, ugh.

I am sooo making progress, guys. I made copies of my filled out application form, finished writing my rankings (just need to edit a bit), and finished COMPLETELY my critnal and actually printed out all the copies.

So, now I just need to
- finish booklist
- edit rankings
- proofreed issue, conflict, and future ed objectives

I am SO ALMOST DONE!

excitement

i think usually you're suppose to give them 2-3 weeks in advance. luckily for me, my teacher already wrote me a rec before for something else, so she just has to edit it instead of starting from scratch.

The teacher I asked is realllly awesome, so she gave it to me promptly. And she even said that I can read it "when I get accepted." ARGHHH she has WAY TOO HIGH expectations.
