@5toryt3ll3r omg twins?
congrats by the way!!!
Really random question-- did each finalist get a personalized message or was it generic? Because the email I got didn’t seem like it was generic but it also doesn’t make sense for them to send personalized emails to ~120 people.
Also, side note: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
@erstwhile I actually have a twin - long-lost triplet? XD Thank you so much, and congrats to you too!!
@dreamsofbrown I felt the same way! Did everyone receive something like “Your application impressed us with its serious thought and engagement in social issues”? That seemed somewhat personalized to me, though it definitely could’ve been a mass email.
@5toryt3ll3r Oh wait never mind… I got the same message but yeah, it does sound personalized.
Wait let’s copy paste.
I am pleased to tell you that you have been chosen as a finalist for the 2017 Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP). Your application impressed us with its serious thought and engagement in social issues.
The next step in the application process is an interview, which will occur between mid-March and mid-April. Within a month, a representative of Telluride Association will contact you to arrange a time and place for the interview.
In the meantime, we ask that you do the following three things:
Please request that a teacher or guidance counselor complete a Recommendation Form for you (instructions enclosed).
Request that the transcript from your school to be mailed to our Ithaca Office by April 1, 2017.
Send us a paper you have written for class, preferably with teacher’s comments attached. You can mail the paper or send it as a single file to sp-supplement@tellurideassociation.org.
A final decision, based on the interview report, your essays, recommendation form, transcript, and paper, will be made by the Telluride Association in late April. Letters with results will be mailed shortly thereafter.
Much of the interview will be based on your written application; the interviewers will use the application to identify issues that concern you and will discuss these issues with you during the interview. If you kept a copy of your application, you may wish to review it prior to your interview. Telluride Association cannot, however, return copies of your application to you. The interview will take approximately 45 minutes.
Please note that because of this program’s residential component, it is not possible for a participant to hold a job, attend summer classes, or pursue outside projects during the six-week program. If you anticipate this might be a problem, please contact us immediately.
We want the brightest minds at TASP and we won’t let finances be a barrier for you. In the event that you are accepted to TASP, we strongly encourage you to apply for travel and work replacement stipends if attending TASP would cause you or your family any financial hardship. The stipend forms will be mailed out with acceptance letters in May.
If you or your parents have any questions about the selection process or the program, please do not hesitate to call the Telluride Association Office at (607) 273-5011. Also, please alert us immediately if you anticipate a change of phone number or address in the next few months.
We are very excited about the TASP programs at Cornell University and the University of Michigan this summer, and we hope you will be a part of making the programs a success.
another finalist here - got the email after midnight in india and it was just a great end to a friday night aaaaaah
Hey everyone! I’m new to CollegeConfidential, and I’m happy to say that I, too, am a finalist!! Congratulations to everyone selected to participate in the interview process! I was wondering if there are alumni willing to impart their knowledge and offer some advice for the interviews, perhaps the types of questions they were asked (even though questions will vary based on the applicant).
I was a TASS participant last summer and I assume the interview process is relatively the same. You will probably have more than one interviewer. I had three interviewers. Good luck to all finalists!
Did y’all have the same letter? @wypiposuck___
For TASS or TASP? @arinuma
Nah is your email from TASP that exact same thing as the one I pasted?
yes! it is the same.
how likely do you think it is that i’ll get an in-person interview, considering i live near a large city in India? skype just seems like a very awkward way to conduct an interview, lol
I’m actually super happy the “Your application impressed us with its serious thought and engagement in social issues” isn’t personalized because I felt that my essays didn’t really address (at least not explicitly) social issues, so I was kinda worried, thinking that the admissions got a wrong reading of my essays and my intent Lol. To prep for interviews I’m probably going to try to see the connection though…
@martianway you will have no problem doing a skype interview. a TASSer last year had their interview via Skype because they live in New Mexico, and they got in. You will be fine.
@wypiposuck___ thanks pal, this is my first interview for something so big so i guess im just looking for something to be worried about
Has anyone created a thread for interviews?
disappointed that I didn’t get accepted, but good luck to everyone on interviews!
Could someone add me to the google drive? Wasn’t accepted but would love to read some of your essays
Same. Could someone add me to the google drive? I moved onto the next round and would like to read some essays. I will share my essays as well.
