@OGSquash thanks:) it’s kinda hard to choose what to fit within the parameters:/
Yeah definitely. It’s hella vague but maybe that’s a plus. Gives us the freedom to put down whatever we want.
Hey guys, for the first Question, is it ok to talk about how a figure Taught you something personally, and helped you with your current aspirations and things like that? As part of the informal education?
@yeeyawnie, it does not have to be that recent. Recent in your memory is what it means. So if that is recent in your moemry, then that is ok.
Hey guys, may anyone answer my question please? I am currently drafting the essay, and would like to know if I should change it. :-S
yes, it can be that version to be informal, informal just means anything that wasn’t directly taught in a classroom, if im not mistaken
How far along are you on your essays? It’s only a couple weeks until the due date and my kid has 1 long essay and all the short essays written. Kiddo is not usually a procrastinator, so this has me worried.
Well, Ive been trying to perfect one essay at a time, and am only doing the first one. Not much of a procrastinator either, but am really fixing all my mistakes and editing ideas as well as refining them throughouly considering the 5% acceptance rate this year. :-S
Wow I just created this account just to ask this question but how formal should the tone of the essay be? Mine’s is pretty conversational (not with swear words but it sounds like I’m talking to the reader) should I rewrite it?
applying from Illinois!
Does anybody have any examples of essays that were accepted? I’m having trouble deciding on what to write. .I have no idea what they’re looking for. Likableness? Intellectual tone? Pretentious?
Just look up TASP essay that worked, I guess. I bet you’ll find something in the top 5 hits.
The tone of my essay is more personal, and more on the formal side, and in the first person. Conversational tones work as well as long as you give the message you wanted.
@Acortez122 From what I’ve read on the TASP website, you don’t need to be nominated. Either way, it just leads you to the same application. TASP says that they don’t take into account whether you’ve been nominated or not when they are selecting applications.
How many are you guys going to list in that section of media and books? And will you include youtube videos, songs, and plays? What types of media?
@Acortez122 I put down a lot of stuff of my list LOL, but most of it are books (I believe I listed 7-9), and I did put down youtube videos and songs but I further explained that there were mostly for mediation and stuff…
How do you guys write in response to essay #3? What did you do that upset a peer? I drafted an essay, but then I think it’s a little off topic…
Well, I read on the previous TASP thread that it does not have to be too serious. Like if you bullied a kid or made fun of someone and they got depressed. It can be something where you argued with someone about something, and how that affected you and your perspective. @cxnxicee
coming from new jersey here pals and i just submitted mine! good luck to everybody else!
Hello! I am also from jersey, how did you tackle the second question?
@Acortez122 I personally made it kinda like a narrative like what I was thinking while I was reading my book but I guess it matters what your issue is how personal it is etc. Also I actually listed a big variety of things like my favorite medium of art, artwork (I’m an art person), graphic novel/manga, song genre, a ton of fun stuff. I didn’t list too many favorite books but considering past questions asked only for your favorite books, 6 sounds like a magic number
@interstellarspaces you already submitted? OG
how much did you all explain the seminar preference question?
