TASS yes!

I received a letter from TASS for the next round! So excited! How many kids do you think will be invited for the interview?

That's awesome. I am a TASS '03 alum at UMich.

My advice...re-read your essays. The interview really focuses on them, and it gets really, really, really, really, really, really in-depth.

They invite roughly twice as a many kids for interviews as they take in the program i think, so about 78.

I look forward for the program. Thanks for your very generous help about what they look for in the interview process. If you do not mind, I am keen to know more about few aspects of the program. Do you have any non-URM kids attending this program? How the class or group discussion takes place? How many kids are invited to Michigan and Indiana site respectively? Do they cover the transportation costs? Thanks

We had one white kid in the program, which added sooooooo much to the experience. We are both from lily-white suburbs, so in that sense we were in the same boat, but we learned a lot from each other, and he learned a whole lot from the other kids in the house.

For the class, you'll get anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours of reading a night. But you have plenty of time to do it, so don't freak out.

There are 18 in each program, 9 guys and 9 girls.
I think you have to get yourself there.

congratulations mathmajor...and good luck with the interview

congrats...

Can someone describe the application process? First you get nominated, then you fill out a form, then there's an interview...?

That's about right.

mathmajor, congratulations on making it to the next round. Did they schedule you for an interview? Is it with a live person or a phone interview?

I wrote a rec letter for a 10th grader and am happy to hear that the Telluride Assn. is finally responding to applicants. I'll check with my recommendee to see if she has heard anything yet.

Then what?

congratulations.

then acceptance or rejection.

wow, congrats! i got a letter for the next round of TASS, too! holy crap, i'm so nervous right now ><. i'm really hoping that i can just be myself in front of all those amazing people.

well, hey, what seminar did you apply to?

Nice, that's 2 TASSers-in-the-run on CC. The TASP counter has yet to start though...

I just learned that the young lady I wrote a rec letter for DID make it to the next level. !!! HURRAY !!!

Good luck mathmajor and navyblue...I REALLY mean it!

Which course did you apply for...Indiana or Michigan?
What part of the country are you from?
My nomineee is from the San Francisco Bay Area, but she didn't tell me which course was her preference.

The student I nominated for TASS got a call on Friday and will interview on Monday here in Silicon Valley. I don't know any other details but she is so excited. She is on spring break next week so the timing is perfect for her.

Have any other TASS candidates have your interview yet or is it scheduled yet?

There are TASSers in the TASP 2007 forum, it's crazy bonding over there-you should check it out!
