TCNJ or BC-Better school for a bio major?

Hi guys! CC helped me a lot during application process and I'd like some insight for choosing the right school for me.

To start off, BC was one of my top choices to begin with, and I would really love to go there. The problem is, I am an NJ resident but considered an international, and do not get any scholarships or grants from private colleges. Before I take out a massive private loan(if even possible) I need to know if 63,000 a year would be a worthwhile investment for my future.

TCNJ is a cheaper compared to other schools I got into, but is still expensive for a state school(~21,000 a year) and I'd still be indebted but less so than if I chose BC. Still, it is a "worse" school rank-wise, and I couldn't find anything particular about the bio program they offer.

If this helps you make offer an opinion, I usually get As and Bs in classes (3rd in class), had an okay SAT Score(2070) and is generally a good student. I think I can handle competition and stress pretty well, but I do tend to get lazy, and overly harsh environment wouldn't suit me too well. I also plan to go to med school in future if possible.

I'd like to hear as many opinions as possible before I decide! Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you for taking time to read this :-)

If you are struggling to pay for even TCNJ and are not getting any financial assistance at all from BC, I would definitely go to TCNJ.

pierre0913/ Thank you for the reply! cost is definitely a huge factor in this, but I didn’t want to decide solely because of the finances :)

you’re going to have to, TCNJ is a decent school and you can start your career off $160,000 less in debt and maybe even use some of that for grad school!

@manae21 TCNJ is known for their biology program. Which is by-far the hardest major to get into at TCNJ! Anywhere between 85%-93% of the students [pre-med] get into Medical School. Considering your view, that TCNJ is – “it is a “worse” school rank-wise” is far from truth. I think you need to do research more to learn more about TCNJ before making such a statement.
