Rutgers vs Uconn vs TCNJ

im majoring in biological sciences and have been accepted to these 3 colleges, i was wondering which one is best for this major. also, i got into the uconn honors program and it would be cheaper to go there than rutgers, even though i am from nj (didnt receive any money at all from them).
ps does the lack of scholarships from ru sound strange, considering my stats?

if you were accepted into a bio program at TCNJ i would definately go there. I got into both schools (although not for bio) and was planning on attending TCNJ before I heard from my early school. The TCNJ bio program is supposed to be quite good and quite competitive. For Rutgers, since my school did not rank, i did not automatically qualify for the honors program, but once you get in, you can apply for honors and with your stats it looks pretty good. I personally like TCNJ more based on school the school size, class size, and campus overall.

Deciding between a large school and a small school is one thing… by all means, go to TCNJ if that’s what you’re looking for.

However, if what you’re interested in is doing research in biology, Rutgers is the clear choice here. There are a ridiculous number of life sciences faculty at Rutgers and UMDNJ (same campus) that are doing cutting edge research and are interested in mentoring and working with undergraduates.

Don’t really understand why you would choose UConn if you’re an NJ resident, though.

If you’re the type of person that can see yourself taking advantage of the huge number of opportunities at a large school, you’ll love Rutgers.

RU is one of the better biosciences schools in the country. TCNJ is just a college.

im considering uconn b/c i got into the honors program there and i also was offered 12k to go there, so it would be cheaper than going to ru who offered me nothing and no honors…but i get what you are saying about research opportunities
