My intended major is Accounting. From what I’ve known both schools have respected business programs, but I need more information and comparison. Thanks in advance.
I’m not too knowledgable about TCU’s business program, but I do know about Miami University’s program (I’m applying for it as well along with being instate!). I do believe that accounting under Farmer is the most popular business major there, and I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. Miami is heavily focused on undergraduate teaching, so there is a level of intimacy that allows you to get to know your professors and establish integral connections, which is important as a business major. I know someone currently in the program who is doing an internship that her professor linked her to and helped her obtain.
For Big Four accounting jobs, they both have solid reputations. A significant consideration should be about where you want to live after graduation. Miami of Ohio places fairly well in Chicago and the rest of the Midwest, whereas TCU will have the advantage in Texas and the Southwest. Outside of that, they’re comparable enough academically that it would probably come down to more about personal fit and cost than one being clearly better than the other.
