@luvya683 - That’s awesome, what areas’ are you hoping to be placed in?

@Rshackelford - Yep, it says, “N/A” for the documentation verifying undergrad Pell grant.

All of my documents say N/A next to them. I emailed the TF ppl and they basically told me not to worry.

Hey guy, yet another lurker busting out the old high school account here!

I interviewed the very first day but haven’t had any update on my Transitional Funding. However, I was also last-minute getting my paperwork in, so I’m not taking this as a sign either way. Sounds like a lot of people in the past have had theirs updated literally at the last minute anyway.

I didn’t think my final interview went too great, but I know I’m being super harsh on myself, too! Pretty much everyone else in my interview group was really awesome and had strong lesson plans, so it was an encouraging experience overall.

Good luck, everyone! Only a few days left!

QUESTIONS FOR YOU GUYS?

When I was selecting the locations Central Florida was listed as a new region. So, I got really excited because I live down here and I really have no plan on moving. So, just to be sure, I called TFA to ask information about the new region and she said the new regions is Jacksonville ( but they have been in Jacksonville since 2008). How can it be listed as a new region? Do you think she was just keeping information from me?

Ps: Jacksonville is not even in Central Florida. It is in Florida but not central!

@IamafriendofGod — She may have just gotten mixed up with the area. Someone asked our interviewers about the same question. They said for the possible expansion regions, it all depends on if the region is open to TFA, if there are enough financial donors, etc. So a lot of political stuff. I guess there were 4 possible expansion regions last year and 2 actually opened up.

I didn’t realize if we get accepted we still have to interview with principals. Does anyone know if TFA sets up the interviews for us or how that works??? That’s kind of stressful!

@ TFAHopeful125
My undertanding, from the limited info that I got from my final interview, is that we set up a resume once we are accepted. I don’t know if tfa uses a certain format or what. Anyway, I THINK that TFA helps us get our resumes to their partner schools in our region, and we interview with principals that want us. I don’t know anything about how many interviews we do or anything like that. But like we said, we feel that it would have been nice for this to be clear from the beginning.

@MinorityDreamer my high priority regions were Philadelphia and Delaware.

Hey guys I found some good information on the process if you are selected. Here is an example from a 2012 Corps member in Colorado.

<a href=“Home | Teach For America”>Home | Teach For America;

If you take Denver out and replace it with a different city, you can look at other areas as well.

For example I also looked at Atlanta’s:

<a href=“Home | Teach For America”>Home | Teach For America;

And Cleveland:

<a href=“Home | Teach For America”>Home | Teach For America;

@TFACLE Thanks for the info! I wasn’t sure what to put in for Dallas but I finally got it to work.

At this point,I’d be honored to be accepted. Having to interview with principals would just be a drop in the bucket.

I did not realize that the first deadline find out their decisions on the same date as the second deadline. WOW - they are busy. I also found out that if you completed your TF after your interview, they said the only status you will see for the meantime is " Under Review" which makes sense in my case. And one more thing, the next deadline people have to wait for an ENTIRE months to find out their decisions and even more over CHRISTMAS BREAK. Wow

@tfacle great info, thanks for sharing!!

Can you imagine having to wait over a month to find out? I’d be going crazy! It’s been just over a week and I can hardly stand it. Trying to keep busy this weekend/week!

Hey guys,

This is actually the exact question that I asked at my final interview and I actually knew about the additional interviewing before my final interview… but I honestly can’t remember where I found the information, I don’t think it was on the TFA website.

I asked my interviewers if the interviewing with principals is a really stressful process or if things usually work out well…

It sounds like TFA does ALL of the planning for you, literally… you just have to show up at the interviews with the principals… sometimes they even bring all the principals into one place and you just go from one to the other interviewing with them…

On this week’s webinar, they said it is incredibly rare that someone does not get offered a position, and it makes sense if you think about it- TFA does so much work to only give placements to people in a region for the number of guaranteed spots they have… this way no one is left out of a spot in a school.

they also said there is a ton of professional development interview stuff… like creating your resume, mock interviews, etc. before hand to ensure that you do well at the interviews… my interviewers made it sound like it wasn’t really that big of a deal and things seem to work out fine…

also… look how many people have been successful with TFA ! clearly, if that many people can get a job with a principal, we can too haha.

@Imafriendofgod I submitted my TF after my interview and it says complete.Really dont think TF means anything at all though

Any Friday interviewers have their TF status change yet? The wait is killing me!

Did anyone apply for early decision and hear back?

Good question warriorsfan, I’d like to know as well!

Guys, I wouldn’t worry about interviewing with the principals; I have known quite a few former corps members and they have said this is one of the least stressful of the steps.

I am more concerned how institute will go. I know every year they have quite a few people drop out during institute because it was too hard for them.

has anybody who interviewed Friday seen their TF status change yet? this waiting game is no fun!
