I AM OBESSISING SO MUCH, I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR TFA 2013 CORP MEMBERS LIST TO SEE IF PEERHAPS SOME GLITCH WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE LIST TO BE PUBLISHED. LOL, LOL, LOL - I crack myself up sometimes.

How many of you had your reference contacted? Mine was not. Do we think that’s good or bad? I am annoyed with myself about how much I am freaking out!!

@teacherhopeful it seems references are only contacted if TFA is following up on something or if the recommenders were not thorough enough in their answers (you know by now TFA wants minuscule details!). They contacted my reference because she worked with me in a leadership setting with children. My recommenders were my thesis advisor and current boss.

@teacherhopeful: I just asked my recommenders/references and they said they didn’t hear a word from TFA wahh.

I’m NOT worried at this point. ahh huh. yea, i like to convince myself. LOL.

my references just told me they are excited for me, and that teach for america is pretty exciting. I’m not sure if they have heard anything from admissions though. I recently chatted with a recruiter within my area; she said she HAS NOT received the list yet for those accepted 1st and 2nd round yet.

And of course, she kept smiling at me
good sign-bad sign-no sign? Wishing for you all guys great things!

So do the recruiters get a list of the people accepted before the actual notification day? That scares me. I emailed my recruiter yesterday just saying that I’m nervous but also excited that we are only two days away. But i haven’t heard back from her!

I do hope the recruiters talk to admissions though. I think I made great relationships with several recruiters and they all seemed to like me and hoped I would get in. It would be great if the admissions committee could hear that too.

BAD NEWS GUYS: I just called Angie Brice, she is the recruiter for the state of Florida. The bad thing is, she tried to recruit me back in 2010 when I was a senior in college but I had a lot going in my life at the time, so I could not managed between graduation, family, graduate school and this process. So, I disappeared in the recruitment process. 2 years later I am back, but Lord she did not even remember me.

I ASKED ABOUT THE transitional funding are process - She says it is process for those who have been accepted and unless you are accepted, you would not have find about your transitional funding change unless of a glitch She seemed pretty sure of what she told me.

My conclusion
*Complete - May not determine acceptance because of computer glitches and so forth.
*Under Review - Certainly means rejection

I’m not so much worried about the acceptance or rejection tomorrow, but rather how to explain it to my family. I worry that because I didn’t place anything in the south (being born and raised in Texas) that they would think I could do the same thing here, which I definitely can. Do your families understand the prestige and immensity of being accepted, how did you explain it to them, and if not how will you explain it to them?

I don’t believe that under review means certain rejection. A lot of people who applied last year did not see a status change until admission day.

@IamafriendofGod That’s unfortunate. When I emailed, asking for an explanation as to why mine was still under review and others were not, they pointed to Hurricane Sandy and insisted this was not an indicator.

However, it is their job to keep hope alive…

it’s a no for me guys :(

Dear iTeach,

Thank you very much for your interest in Teach For America and for the time and effort you invested in interviewing with us. I am very sorry to inform you that, after careful consideration of your candidacy, we will not be able to extend you an offer to join the 2013 corps.

Your initiative in applying to Teach For America demonstrates your commitment to expanding opportunities for children and effecting social change, and we would like to offer all candidates a path to realizing these aims. This said, we know that Teach For America is not a fit for everyone. While acknowledging the limitations of any selection process, we have developed a set of admissions criteria over time that helps us identify those most likely to be successful in our particular program. We use the written application, Online Activity, transcripts, online recommendation forms, phone interview, and all parts of the interview day as lenses through which to view evidence related to these criteria.

We know, however, that you have the potential to make a significant contribution to meeting our country’s pressing social needs, and we encourage you to pursue other ways to make a difference. To assist you in your pursuit, we have posted on our website a list of recommended resources. Additionally, if you are interested in being contacted by educational and service-oriented organizations that may wish to recruit Teach For America applicants for similar opportunities, you can complete a short form here.

I am sorry that we will not be able to provide individual feedback on admissions decisions, given that we do not have the resources to handle the volume of potential requests. Although this e-mail may bring disappointment, I hope that your experience with Teach For America thus far has been positive. If you would like to share any anonymous feedback on our admissions process, we welcome your reflections and suggestions here.

I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Sean Waldheim
Vice President, Admissions

@RED0088 I tried explaining it to them but at first they didn’t get it. As I was trying to explain it I talked about how selective this program actually is (5,000 accepted of 46,000 applications a year or two ago). What kind of difference you actually make and the actual type of work you do.

IamafriendofGod, that’s pretty damn depressing.

WHAT?! They are telling people already!

Not cool…
