Teach For America 2013 Corps

If you were sent straight to the final interview that means based on your application, letter of intent, and resume they had enough information on the significance of your leadership, commitment to the community, and academic achievement.

If you had a phone interview it simply means they needed more information about those areas in order to confirm you were who they were looking for. on

Has anyone received an email from current corps member? I heard that IS definitely an indicator of an acceptance.

@iTeach I have NOT received an email from a current corps member. Have you? In what context was it? I know several people that are currently in the corps, but nobody has reached out to me besides my campus recruiter and a recruiter from the NYC office.

I don’t even have a recruiter. Haha but I think that’s because I went the non traditional route and found out about TFA through a website, stalked their website for days, and then applied. I do have a region coordinator, I think that’s what he called himself but I haven’t heard from him except to say congrats on making it to the final interview so I’m sure that was a canned email. He was helpful when I emailed him questions in the past though.

SN: has anyone recently had a Happy Meal or bought one for a child? WHAT happened to the fries? I was trying to be healthy on a diet haha and I guess that’s what I get.

Still under review… still checking every 10 minutes… still scared.

And @Tkass87 - what was in there instead??

@crazygolfer: if you read a couple of threads from last year, those who got accepted were receiving emails from current corps members a couple days before notification day.

@Tkass87: yea, what was there instead? Don’t tell me they gave you fruits instead. I do not go to McDonalds to eat a healthy meal. I go there for the extra greasy super-sized french fry, extra caramel mcflurry, and who knows how old dollar cheeseburgers. mmmmmmmm…

@crazygood31 Oh there was about 10 fries in a baby fry box that was about the size of a pack of orbit gum.

@iTeach I got apple slices as well, that were peeled, sliced, and cored for me.

Has anyone gotten emails from current corps members?
I haven’t! :/

@TFAwannabe2013 … I don’t think that is standard practice because it defeats the whole purpose of a notification. I wouldn’t stress about it.

I do not remember people getting emails. Hopefully tomorrow at this time notifications start going out. I thought I saw the earliest one was at 2PM. I hope we all find out early and aren’t biting our nails until 6.

One more day. Good luck everyone! I just heard some news that made my anxiety for this zoom up a million percent. One of my reccomenders just informed me that somebody from TFA contacted her this Monday (!) asking her to follow up a bit, I tried to get all the details from her without seeming too desperate haha. She said they mainly wanted to know if I had experience working specifically with people with behavioral problems. She answered that she did not have personal supervision of me in that capacity to say yes or no but that she believed I could and then likened some experiences of mine she DID have specific supervision over that relate to the issue. I am on pins and needles!

@marrythenight1 That sounds like a good sign!!

marrythenight1, that’s interesting that they did that on Monday. I assumed they had made all their decisions by the end of last week. Regardless, I think that’s a very good sign :)

Was just going through the 2012 corps thread and lots of posters in the 1st and 2nd round were accepted. This thread will be littered with acceptances and rejections tomorrow night.

I am freaking out!!!

My post interview survey email says we won’t be notified until 8pm ET. Is that right or is it 6pm?

I check the applicant center every 30 minutes. NOTHING YET! I try not to talk about this but this is really frustrating. I work in a computer access lab which means I am in front of the computer literally 24/7. I am either at work, working on an assignment or planning on THE COMPUTER for my orgaanziation. Lol , I need some self control.

Keep the signs and news coming. I also realized that a lot of people from the thread disapeared when they found out they were rejected or accepted. Don’t be discourage guys (NOW LISTEN TO ME - PREACHING TO MYSELF) post the outcome so that it will help others.

Haha I’m loving how there’s a side conversation about McDonald’s going on amidst the freak-outs.

In case anyone’s keeping track, I did have a phone interview, but I don’t think that decreases your chances at all. I actually think my phone interview might have been the strongest part of my application—my final interview felt more iffy.

I also haven’t had any updates on my transitional funding, but I submitted it literally at the last minute (around 8 PM Pacific time on the 19th), so I’m probably the last person they’d get to. And yeah, people last year were getting their TF status updated right before or even at the same time as their acceptance. I wouldn’t stress too much about it. :)

Stole this from last year’s thread. Might as well do it here as well.

Good luck everyone! When you post your results, can you please use this template:

Accepted/Rejected
Final Interview date
First Letter of Last Name
Applied for transitional funding? (Yes/No)
If yes, was there a change to Complete (if there was, list the date when the changes occurred)
If accepted, also post the region you were assigned to and grade level/subject you’ll be teaching
