Dear XXX

Thank you very much for your interest in Teach For America and for the time and effort you invested in interviewing with us. I am very sorry to inform you that, after careful consideration of your candidacy, we will not be extending you an offer to join the 2013 corps.

We know that all applicants invited to a final interview display potential. When reviewing applications, we look for individuals whom we believe best exhibit some of the traits we’ve found in our most successful teachers. We use your application, online activity, transcripts, online recommendation forms, phone interview, and all parts of the interview day as lenses through which to view evidence related to our set of admissions criteria. These criteria have been developed over time and help us identify those most likely to be successful in our particular program.

Your initiative in applying to Teach For America demonstrates your commitment to expanding opportunities for children and effecting social change. As you heard on your final interview day, Teach For America is just one path to work toward educational equity. We hope that you will consider other organizations that share our commitment to this work. To assist you in your pursuit, we have a list of recommended resources where you can learn about other non-profit organizations and additional opportunities. If you agreed to our partner release on the application, you may be hearing from some of our partner organizations about other opportunities in the educational reform movement.

Finally, I am sorry that we will not be able to provide individual feedback on admissions decisions. We understand that this can be frustrating, given the amount of effort you have invested in your application and we wish we could give specific feedback to all applicants; unfortunately, we do not have the resources to handle the volume of potential requests. Although this e-mail may bring disappointment, I hope that your experience with Teach For America thus far has been positive. If you would like to share any anonymous feedback on our admissions process, we welcome your reflections and suggestions here.

I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Sean Waldheim
Vice President, Admissions

I’m not that upset I got rejected because I have other opportunities but I am disturbed they blatantly lie about TF status updates. Think we have now all proved for future applicants “under review” means rejection.

I’m accepted "Congratulations!

We are pleased to invite you to join the 2013 Teach For America corps.
Your assignment

You have been assigned to teach science in Eastern North Carolina."
