I know this has been a point of contention in past years, but any idea what a change in your transitional funding could possibly entail? My transitional funding is now listed as “complete”. I’ve heard in the past it can serve as an early indicator for acceptance. But I’ve also heard stories of people getting rejected despite the change.

RShackelford – does it say complete on the status page, or in the section itself? Cause everything says complete on my status page but says “we have not yet reviewed…” once inside.

I put Colorado, DC, Baltimore, Bay Area, Rhode Island, Chicago, and Boston as highly preferred.

It says “complete” on my transitional funding status page, not the front page. It doesn’t say how much money for grants and loans and whatnot. I interviewed last Wednesday.

I heard they decide who is accepted this week and they spend next week on placements, so it may be too early. Maybe I’m overanalyzing it haha.

It’s hard to tell! I know we’re all going to be driving ourselves crazy until the 1st of November. It may be because you interviewed earlier in the week. I interviewed this past Friday.

I do know after reading the message boards from last year it seemed to be an indicator most of the time, but not all of the time.

Not sure if I posted earlier, but my highly preferred regions were D.C., Baltimore, Charlotte, New York, and Chicago. My highly preferred subjects were early childhood and elementary.

@ SChopeful13 - Haha thanks. I actually went to the website first but they don’t really have much information about the masters program itself other than the fact that it can be completed within 2 years. I tried google and bing but there aren’t any blogs from previous corps member talking about it which is why I was wondering if anyone heard anything ?

@ RShackelford - When did you submit your transitional funding application?

I listed Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio has highly preferred with HS/MS as my preferred assignment levels.
I have also heard that a change in transitional funding status is a good indicator of acceptance but like the others were saying, the data is from a limited sample, ie the people that post here. I submitted my TF app on the 8th and it still says they haven’t even looked at it yet.

I’m hoping for the Bay area, Texas, Phoenix or New MX and I would LOVE to teach Spanish or bilingual education. But, at this point I am willing to go wherever they need me to teach whatever. I have just gotten so darn invested in this mission statement!!

Hey, everyone! I had my final interview last Wednesday, 10/17, and felt like it went pretty well! Like you all, I just wish they wouldn’t make us wait so long afterwards to hear about our acceptance (or that unspeakable r-word)! I checked my transitional funding status, and noticed that it had changed to “complete” as of yesterday. I submitted it a few days prior to my final interview. Not sure if it means anything, either, so I’m going to not look too much into it for now.

My prime picks are Colorado, Portland (if they open a site there-- twould be amazing!), Charlotte, and San Antonio. Like some of you have already said, though, I’m pretty much willing to go wherever :)

I’m wondering if you guys’ statuses have changed already because you had interviews earlier in the week? I chose Friday for my interview bc I figured it would make the wait seem shorter. -__- Not really working.

@Teacherhopeful I totally agree about being invested in their mission. No matter what happens I know that I want to work in low income communities. I just really hope it’s as a corps member! :)

After trolling this board for over a month, I finally decided to join!
I applied for 2DL and went through the phone interview and then final interview last Wednesday.
I completed my transitional funding Friday with the last document I needed and today it updated saying that they reviewed it but I submitted to wrong document. Oops! So I’m correcting it today. That’s still a good sign right?
Really anxious. Can’t believe we still have over a week to wait. Hoping for a Texas placement in elementary, special Ed or MS/HS science!

I’ve been lurking too, so I figured that I might as well join in on the conversation as well.

I feel like that’s a pretty quick turnaround for doing TF. I was expecting that we wouldnt see any change for at least a week. I wonder what dictates the order of getting through the TF applications.

Oh gosh, now I’m dreaming about TFA. I want it to be next Thursday, but I’m a little scared to know the verdict. I keep replaying some of my answers from the interview. My interviewer asked me a few questions about what my worries/concerns about being a corps member are (the Q from the online activity) and I said classroom management & being a teacher w/o having studied to be a teacher first…I think it would’ve been insincere to say that I didn’t have any concerns/ it seemed like I should answer with something, but I also hope that I didn’t sound skeptical or anything, because I’m totally invested in TFA’s mission statement and feel capable! I gave some ways that I would address and work through my concerns, hopefully that was good. Maybe I’m just freaking myself out. This forum is helpful though :)

@kitkat13 that was similar to my answer for that question. I did try to be sincere in all my answers because my interviewer seemed like a really perceptive person. It was hard to gauge the group interview part because the group of girls that I interviewed with were all equally qualified and passionate about TFA. We had a session of everyone going around and introducing themselves and our reason for wanting to do TFA and not one person sounded insincere. One of our interviewers told us a story about his experience and it was incredibly moving! Of course, in a group full of women, everyone’s eyes starting watering.

Ok I’m glad that someone else was asked that question too…I was hoping the answer that I put on the online activity wasn’t a red flag, making them want to revisit the q in the 1-on-1 interview. Haha, it’s so easy to psych yourself out. And @tkass87, my eyes watered when the interviewers told their personal stories, too :)

I don’t think anyone who interviewed on Friday has had their TF status change yet.

@Kitkat13, yeah I think they wanted us to flesh it out to see if we could cope with failure.

I almost gave myself a heart attack trying to check my TF status bc I clicked Withdraw on accident but luckily they wanted reasons so I quickly backed out of that screen.

Hey,
I’ve been reading this thread for a while as well, and I finally decided to join. I interviewed on 10/18/12 and I’m patiently waiting for the results. I think , I nailed the interview, but you never know. TFA has a high standard and not everyone meets it. You can have the passion, credentials and the greatest intentions in the world and still not meet the bar. When I first got to my interview, I was a bit intimidated, most of the candidates went to ivy league schools, and I didn’t. But, I was really impressed with everyone,we all had the same goals and admiration’s and were passionate about teaching. If I’m not accepted to TFA, I’ll be very disappointed but, I’m happy I got the opportunity to meet such great people.
My choices were Baltimore, D.C, Philly, NY, Massachusetts, Detroit, Atlanta, N.C, L.A and Miami.
