Teach For America 2013 Corps

I submitted my transitional funding app early, too. I think complete, means that they received it. I’m still missing paperwork and it still says complete, so I know that’s incorrect.

@ElleVintage, I think it’s telling you that the app itself it complete. Like the part where you entered in all of your financial information.

Is anyone having trouble logging in to the application center?? I keep getting an error message. :/

Never mind! It’s working now. That was weird.

I wonder what the acceptance rate for guys are. I was the only male in my group interview, so maybe that’ll play to my advantage haha. I believe the website said TFA corps members are 28% male or something like that, so maybe that’ll play to my advantage; that’s diversity in a profession that’s nearly 80% female.

However, I think everyone did well in my group, so in my mind we should all be accepted. :)

@RShackelford, Yea, there were only 2 guys at my interview and I was the only African American woman.

My interview was this Wednesday. 10 people. 3 guys. Very diverse. Lessons were abysmal though on the whole. Two were stellar, three were OK, one was below average, and three were just hard to watch. I thought mine was somewhere in between the stellar and the OKs.

The group interview was dominated by only a few people. I was surprised to see so many just sit back and relax instead of going after it. Didn’t make a lot of sense to me.

My individual interview was pretty good too, I guess, but how can you know? For those of you who have inflated heads because you had an admiring interviewer, don’t get your hopes up. I’m pretty sure they’re told to be that way. Trust me I can name a thousand people who felt their interviewer was very positive/receptive to their accomplishments who didn’t end up getting a bid.

Dying over here. I can’t believe we have to wait NINE MORE DAYS.

Does anyone know how much the final interview counts vs. the rest of the application for the final decision? I keep trying to find something about this on blogs or whatever, and I have yet to find any information.

I see that there has been changes in applicants Transitional Funding. To make it easier for everyone, I think we should do what they did last year by posting the following:

Interview date:
TF changes:

I’ll start,

Interview date: 10/19/12
TF changes: none at the moment

As I mentioned, my group was all females, 3 African American, myself included, one Indian, and the others were Caucasian. Everyone’s lessons in my group were great. There was one lesson that was a bit…off but I think she was just nervous because she was visibly shaking. My legs were shaking but I think my pants hid that fact haha!

@iraja- I’ve heard mixed things. I’ve heard that the app gets your foot in the door but the final is what decides whether or not you make into the entryway or get the door slammed on your foot :(

I do know that they have to be deciding this week especially since those who signed up for early notification will be getting their notification this Friday.

Interview date: 10/19/12
TF changes: none at the moment

Interview date: October 17th
TF changes:incomplete (meaning they reviewed my TF and they need more paperwork. Fixing tonight)

Interview Date: 10/18/12
TFA Changes: N/A

Good luck everyone. By the end of next week, we will all have our responses, some of us may even be in the same region. I’m so excited!!! What are some of your plans, if your not accepted?

Interview Date: 10/19/12
TF Changes: None yet :-/

Interview date: 10/18
TF Changes: None

I told myself I wasn’t going to stress about the TF funding, especially not on Tuesday… but here I am, stressing! grrrr

Interview date: 10/19
TF Changes: None

I graduate in May, but I was just curious how many of you have gone through the interview process before?

Edit: I fixed the document so now it’s back to “Under Review.” sigh

But the fact that they reviewed it could be a good sign, right? RIGHT?!..I don’t like this waiting game.

Anyone else check this and the TFA site constantly? I’m beginning to think I’m crazy. Haha.

@pinkpanther09: I agree with you. I also told myself not to worry about Transitional Funding and I’m super stressing about it now.

@TFAwannabe2013: Yeah, for sure! That is a great sign for you buddy. I also juggle between this site and the TFA site.

I seriously just need to find something to keep me busy for the rest of this week. aggh!

I am currently in a doctoral program so if I’m not accepted, I’ll continue that.

Interview date: 10/18/12
TF Changes: Nothing yet and checking every day!

I’m getting the jitters and dissecting all my interview answers daily… totally normal, right? :)

@StarsThatShine TOTALLY normal. I’ve been doing the same thing.

Did anyone have people that really stood out in their final interviews? I feel like everyone in my final interview was sort of on the same playing field (maybe 2 or 3 were a little less impressive than the rest), but overall, no one was truly a stand out in the group.

If someone stood out, could you guys tell me what made them especially impressive? I’m just curious.
