Teach For America 2014 Corps

It sounds like a great sign!

I too got contacted by my one of highly-preferenced regions. It probably doesn’t mean much in terms of whether I’ll get admitted, but it’s got me really excited anyway. lol

Most of my preferences were in the South. I’d really like early education or middle school math or science.

Awe Hallas, I was nervous too and a few of the other people were as well.
I’m a 4DL I find myself going back on the TFA site everyday going over my preference form lol. I prefer early childhood education in Philly or Delaware. Has anyone been accepted to these regions already?

@mossmoss I’m trying not to get too excited about the email, assuming most people will be getting one for their areas, but I can’t help but get a bit excited. haha

@NSCUTeach
what was the survey on, exactly?

@mossmoss Just questions about the area and if I understood what it took to be a part of TFA there. It had me preference where in Washington I wanted to be. It also asked me short questions about why Washington and etc.

I know Washington has a very small corp size, so I don’t want to get my hopes too high. :-</p>

@NSCUTeach, well that survey would certainly get my hopes up! good luck!

@mossmoss I’d take the email as encouraging! I think it’s sent to those that selected especially contentious areas regarding TFA, to be aware of the current controversies in the area - such as in Seattle.

Did they allow you guys a chance to change your regions?? they are giving us a chance

Yep. Until 3/2.

Hello Peeps!
Just got back from my Final Interview today. It was a lot less stressful than i thought it was going to be so keep that in mind 5DL-ers … I did stuttered for like 3 seconds during my Teaching Sample but overall i did good (the other finalists told me) and the Group Activity was very chill and relaxing (DO NOT try to outshine others when it comes to this, not a good thing) We took turn speaking and discussing what we had to talk about. The One-on-One interview was really good and chill. They go over what you answered during the phone interview (if you got one) and some questions about the Online Activity video. Overall, they are looking for team work, respect, diversity and leadership skills.

The next 2 weeks for me will be hell lol since we wont know the result until March 13th.

No matter what the result is, good luck to the 4DL and 5DL

Hey 4th DLers! Good luck to everyone interviewing this week. I was apart of the last cohort of folks to apply. I was accepted and placed in TFA—NYC, special/ general education. I hope most of you are finding out that the final interview isn’t as intimidating as you originally thought. My question: where do you all want to be placed?

I would love to be placed in Seattle/puget sound.

@AsTallasLions88 I’d love to be placed in Memphis, Miss, or NOLA.

I would love to be placed in Las Vegas Valley or potential expansion region of San Diego

How soon did you guys start to see your TF status change?

@teachprayteach I’m not applying for TF so I’m sad that I won’t get that early indicator. lol

How was everyone’s one-on-one interview? I feel that mine was a rehash of many of the same questions that I was asked in the phone interview. I’m wondering if this is a bad sign.

Hey everyone,

The issue with my recommendation resolved itself well, so that was a huge weight off of me. Luckily, after the stress of that, the final interview felt comparatively stress-free, so I felt very relaxed and I think it went really well because of that. I ran out of time during my last sentence of the sample teach, but otherwise delivered all the information I wanted to.

I’m hoping for Boston (I have a special circumstance I hope they take into consideration) teaching high school or middle school. I would be most comfortable with English or history because my degrees are in those, but honestly I would be fine doing math or any science besides physics as well.

@mossmoss no thats not a bad thing, thats how it’s supposed to be…

So everyone pretty much has that experience? Are they looking for consistency? lol

@mossmoss we touched briefly on my resume. She asked a couple of other questions about other things that weren’t asked before. (other jobs listed and achievements there) But we mostly talked about what I could bring to the program, etc etc. What I could have done different in the lessons/role play.
